What is UGC NET 2025?

University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for positions like Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities or colleges. This exam is conducted in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, held twice a year, in June and December.

  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Candidates who qualify for the JRF position can apply for the position of assistant professor or research scholar. Students get a monthly stipend and research grant to support their research in a specific field.
  • Assistant Professor: Students who qualify for the position of an assistant professor typically receive a teaching role at colleges or universities in India. Successful candidates can then progress to higher positions such as Associate Professor or Professor.
