AILET Eligibility Criteria 2027: Qualification, Age Limit, Marks & Requirements

The AILET Eligibility Criteria 2027 specifies the academic qualifications and other requirements candidates must meet to apply for admission to National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi). For the 2027-28 academic session, NLU Delhi is conducting AILET for admission to the five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and one-year LL.M. programmes. The eligibility requirements differ for the two programmes, particularly in terms of the qualifying examination and minimum marks required.

For B.A. LL.B., candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination with the prescribed minimum percentage. Candidates appearing for their Class 12 annual examination in 2027 are also eligible to apply. For LL.M., candidates need an LL.B. or equivalent law degree, while final-year LL.B. students appearing in 2027 can also apply.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2027 for B.A. LL.B.

Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination under the 10+2 system with at least 45% marks for General category, 42% for OBC and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Students appearing for their Class 12 examination in 2027 can also apply for AILET 2027, provided they meet the required marks criteria at the time of admission.

B.A. LL.B. Minimum Marks

Important: The minimum percentage is calculated from the qualifying examination specified by NLU Delhi. Candidates should refer to the university's admission rules for the applicable treatment of their subjects and qualifying examination.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2027 for LL.M.

Candidates seeking admission to the one-year LL.M. programme must hold an LL.B. degree or an equivalent law degree.

The minimum qualifying marks are 50% for candidates in the general category and 45% for SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates. Candidates appearing for their final-year LL.B. annual examination in 2027 are also eligible to apply.

Candidates appearing in the final year of their qualifying law degree should ensure that they meet the required qualification within the admission requirements prescribed by NLU Delhi.

AILET 2027 Age Limit

The official AILET 2027 admission announcement does not specify an upper age limit for candidates applying to the B.A. LL.B. or LL.M. programmes. Therefore, an age restriction should not be added to the eligibility criteria unless NLU Delhi subsequently publishes one in its detailed admission rules or application instructions.

This is particularly important because several third-party AILET pages continue to reproduce eligibility information from earlier admission cycles. Candidates should rely on the eligibility conditions applicable to AILET 2027.

AILET Eligibility for Candidates Appearing in 2027

NLU Delhi has specifically allowed candidates who are appearing for their qualifying examinations in 2027 to apply.

For B.A. LL.B., candidates appearing for their Class 12 annual examination in 2027 can apply. For LL.M., candidates appearing for their final-year LL.B. annual examination in 2027 can apply.

Note: However, appearing for the qualifying examination does not by itself guarantee admission. Candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility requirements at the relevant stage of the admission process.

AILET Eligibility for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO Candidates

NLU Delhi has separate admission provisions for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates. For B.A. LL.B., these candidates are exempted from appearing in AILET and are considered for seats earmarked for direct admission on merit, with the admission announcement specifying 65% marks in the qualifying examination. For LL.M., Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates are also exempted from AILET and considered for the seats reserved for direct admission on merit.

AILET 2027 Eligibility: Category-Wise Minimum Marks

The minimum marks required to apply for AILET 2027 vary according to the candidate's category and the programme selected. For B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), candidates from the General category must secure at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination, while the requirement is 42% for OBC candidates and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Candidates appearing for their Class 12 examination in 2027 are also eligible to apply, subject to fulfilling the prescribed qualification.

For the LL.M. programme, candidates must have an LL.B. or equivalent law degree. The minimum qualifying marks are 50% for General candidates and 45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Final-year LL.B. students appearing for their annual examination in 2027 can also apply.

Note: These minimum marks determine whether a candidate meets the academic eligibility requirement for AILET 2027. They should not be confused with the marks or rank required for admission, which depend on performance in AILET and the applicable category-wise merit.

AILET 2027 Eligibility and Admission Seats

NLU Delhi has announced 110 seats on AILET merit for the B.A. LL.B. programme, along with 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates for direct admission on merit. The LL.M. programme has 70 seats on AILET merit, with 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO candidates. The university has also specified one additional supernumerary seat for a Kashmiri Migrant.
