AILET Syllabus 2027: Subject-Wise Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

The AILET Syllabus 2027 for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) is divided into three sections: English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning. The examination carries 150 questions for 150 marks and is conducted for two hours. Logical Reasoning has the highest weightage with 70 questions, followed by English Language with 50 questions and Current Affairs & General Knowledge with 30 questions.

For candidates preparing for AILET, the section-wise weightage is important because the examination does not have a separate Legal Aptitude or Mathematics section in the current B.A. LL.B. structure. NLU Delhi also states that legal principles may be used within Logical Reasoning, but candidates are not expected to have prior technical or legal knowledge to attempt those questions.

AILET 2027 English Language Syllabus

English Language accounts for 50 questions and 50 marks in the B.A. LL.B. entrance test. The section primarily tests how well candidates understand written English and use language in context.

The official syllabus identifies English Language as one of the three sections but does not prescribe a long chapter-wise list. Based on the official section description and the areas reflected in recent AILET preparation material, candidates should prepare reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar-based questions.

The emphasis should be on comprehension and application rather than memorising isolated vocabulary. Regular reading of editorials, essays and other well-written material can help candidates become more comfortable with longer passages and unfamiliar words.

AILET 2027 Current Affairs & General Knowledge Syllabus

The Current Affairs & General Knowledge section carries 30 questions for 30 marks. Unlike Logical Reasoning and English, this section depends heavily on a candidate's awareness of events and developments beyond the classroom.

Preparation should combine current affairs with static general knowledge. Important areas include national and international developments, government policies, major appointments, awards, sports, important organisations and significant developments in areas such as law, economy and international relations.

AILET 2027 Logical Reasoning Syllabus

Logical Reasoning is the largest section of AILET 2027, carrying 70 questions for 70 marks. NLU Delhi uses this section to assess logical aptitude and reasoning ability. Legal principles may appear in questions, but the university specifically states that candidates do not need prior legal knowledge or technical understanding to answer them.

Candidates should therefore focus on understanding the structure of an argument, identifying assumptions and conclusions, drawing logical inferences and evaluating the relationship between statements.

Note: The important distinction for AILET is that Logical Reasoning should not be treated as a conventional law subject. Even when a question contains a legal principle, the candidate is generally expected to apply the information provided in the question rather than rely on previously memorised legal provisions.

AILET 2027 Exam Pattern

The AILET 2027 exam pattern determines how the syllabus is distributed across the question paper. For B.A. LL.B., candidates have 120 minutes to attempt 150 MCQs.

The distribution makes Logical Reasoning the highest-weighted section, accounting for 70 of the 150 questions. English contributes 50 marks, while Current Affairs & General Knowledge contributes 30 marks.

AILET 2027 Marking Scheme

AILET follows a negative-marking system. Candidates receive one mark for every correct answer and lose 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Questions that are not attempted do not carry a positive or negative mark.

This makes accuracy particularly important. Attempting every question without considering the negative marking can reduce the final score.

AILET 2027 Syllabus: What Candidates Should Prioritise

The section-wise distribution of the AILET 2027 syllabus gives candidates a clear idea of where to focus their preparation. Logical Reasoning carries the highest weightage at nearly 47%, followed by English at around 33% and Current Affairs & General Knowledge at about 20%.

AILET 2027 LL.M. Syllabus

The AILET LL.M. syllabus 2027 is different from the B.A. LL.B. syllabus. The LL.M. entrance test consists of 100 MCQs carrying 100 marks, with questions drawn from different branches of Law. The examination duration is 120 minutes and negative marking applies.
