To be eligible for IBPS PO exam, candidates have to satisfy various criteria such as age limit, nationality, educational qualification, etc. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria below.

  • Commissioned Officers, including ECOs and SSCOs, who have completed at least five years of service in the armed forces and have been released (or are due for release within a year), are eligible for an age relaxation of 5 years.
  • Candidates belonging to the ST category with a physical disability are entitled to an age relaxation of 15 years.
  • Applicants who wish to claim relaxation benefits must upload the required supporting documents during the recruitment process on the official IBPS PO website.
  • Ex-servicemen who served as Cadre Officers are not eligible for any form of reservation.

Computer Literacy: Working knowledge of computer systems is necessary for the job as well as to give the IBPS PO exam, which is conducted in online mode.

 

Language Proficiency: Verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT is desirable. The candidate must be able to read, write and speak the language.

 

IBPS PO Nationality

Candidates who wish to appear in the IBPS PO exam must meet the nationality requirements as mentioned below.

  • The applicant must be a permanent citizen of India.
  • Citizens of Nepal or Bhutan are also eligible.
  • Tibetan refugees who entered India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement can apply.
  • Individuals of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Vietnam, or other East African nations are allowed to appear for the exam.
  • Candidates falling under the above special categories must present valid proof of citizenship.

 

IBPS PO Reservations

According to section 34, a person with benchmark disabilities are eligible for a reservation for IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2025. There are certain disabilities mentioned.

  • “OC” Category
  • Visible Impairment (VI) Category- after the best correction candidate, will be eligible to apply.
  • Hearing Impaired (“HI”) Category
  • Intellectual disability
  • Multiple Disease - means various disabilities within the clause

 

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2025 for EWS Candidates

Candidates who belong to the EWS category can check the eligibility criteria mentioned below.

  • Candidates under the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category are those who do not fall under the SC, ST, or OBC categories.
  • The family’s gross annual income must be below INR 8 lakh to be considered for EWS.
  • For IBPS recruitment, 10% reservation is provided to eligible EWS candidates.
  • However, candidates will not be eligible for EWS benefits if they or their family own any of the following assets, regardless of income:
    • Agricultural land measuring 5 acres or more
    • A residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. or above
    • A residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities

 

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2025 for PWD Candidates

As per the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, individuals with benchmark disabilities are entitled to reservation under Section 34. The eligible categories of disabilities covered under this Act include:

  • Deafness and hard of hearing
  • Blindness or low vision
  • Intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, mental illness, or specific learning disabilities
  • Locomotor disability, which also covers conditions such as leprosy, cerebral palsy, dwarfism, muscular dystrophy, and survivors of acid attacks

The allocation of vacancies for persons with benchmark disabilities will be done in line with the Act and based on the number of reserved posts reported to IBPS by the participating banks.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2025: Medical Standards

To be eligible for IBPS PO exam, candidates need to attach their medical fitness certificate. They have to go through the following tests.

IBPS PO 2025 Credit History

(i) At the time of joining, candidates must maintain a satisfactory credit record. The minimum CIBIL or credit score requirement will be based on the respective bank’s internal guidelines, which may change from time to time.

 

(ii) If a candidate’s CIBIL details are not updated before the date of joining, they will be required either to get their CIBIL report corrected or submit No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from concerned lenders, confirming that there are no pending issues in the accounts shown adversely in CIBIL. If this is not done, the bank reserves the right to withdraw or cancel the offer of appointment. The final authority in such cases will rest with the allotted bank.
