JosAA Counselling Latest news and articles
JoSAA Counselling Dates 2026 have been officially released on josaa.nic.in. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority manages admissions to IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and GFTIs through a centralised six-round counselling process. JoSAA 2026 registration and choice filling began on June 2, 2026, one day after JEE Advanced 2026 results were declared on June 1, 2026. JEE Advanced 2026 was conducted on May 17, 2026.
The JoSAA Counselling 2026 runs across six rounds from June 13 to July 21, 2026, followed by CSAB supplementary rounds for any remaining vacant NIT, IIIT, and GFTI seats. Candidates must track each deadline carefully, as missing any response window results in cancellation of the allotted seat.

JoSAA Counselling Dates 2026: Choice Filling Process
Choice filling ran alongside registration from June 2 to June 11, 2026. Candidates selected and ranked their preferred institute-course combinations from the complete list of participating IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and GFTIs. The order of preference is critical, as JoSAA uses it directly in the seat allotment algorithm. Choices that were not manually locked before the June 11 deadline were auto-locked by the system.
• Choice filling started with registration on June 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
• Candidates could select from all eligible IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs based on their JEE qualification.
• There was no upper limit on the number of choices that could be added.
• Choices had to be arranged in descending order of preference, with the most preferred option at the top.
• Choices could be added, removed, or rearranged multiple times before the locking deadline.
• Choices had to be saved regularly to avoid data loss.
• The final step was to lock choices before June 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
• The system auto-locked the last saved choices if candidates did not lock manually.
JoSAA Counselling Dates 2026: Seat Acceptance Process
The seat acceptance process begins after each round of allotment. Candidates who receive a seat must log in to the JoSAA portal, select one of the response options (Freeze, Float, Slide, or Withdraw), pay the seat acceptance fee, and upload the required documents within the specified window. This confirms provisional admission. Candidates who pre-paid the seat acceptance fee from June 2 onwards can skip the payment step during the round-specific response window, reducing the time pressure after each allotment.
The seat acceptance fee is paid only once across all rounds. For General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, the fee is INR 35,000. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, it is INR 15,000. The fee is adjusted against the institute's admission fee when the candidate finally joins.

JoSAA Counselling Dates 2026: Document Verification and Reporting
After each round of allotment, candidates must upload the required documents within the online reporting window. Any query raised by JoSAA must be resolved before the query deadline; failure to do so may result in cancellation of the allotted seat. The documents required vary slightly for IIT and NIT+ system candidates.
