The NEET UG 2025 results were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 14, 2025. Candidates can check and download their scorecards from the official website –neet.nta.nic.in, using their login credentials. The NEET 2025 merit list has also been published online for public access.

Following a hearing by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Subodh Abhyankar of the Indore bench directed NTA to conduct a re-exam for candidates affected by a power outage at certain exam centres. However, only those who filed petitions before June 3, 2025, were eligible for the re-test.

Out of 22,09,318 candidates who appeared for the exam, 12,36,531 have qualified. Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan secured AIR 1 with a 99.99 percentile. Utkarsh Awadhiya from Madhya Pradesh ranked AIR 2, and Avika Aggarwal from Delhi (NCT) emerged as the female topper with AIR 5. The highest score in NEET 2025 is 686 out of 720. The NEET 2025 cutoff, also released with the result, has slightly dropped compared to last year. NTA had published the final answer key earlier on the same day in PDF format.

How is the NEET Percentile Score Calculated?

The NEET percentile score shows how well a student has performed compared to others. It tells you the percentage of students who scored less than a particular candidate. The percentile is calculated based on the highest marks scored in the exam. As per NTA, it reflects how many students scored below a certain score.

Here’s the formula to calculate NEET percentile: NEET Percentile = [(Total candidates appeared − Your NEET rank) / Total candidates appeared] × 100

NEET 2025 Tie-Breaking Rules

When two or more candidates score the same marks in NEET 2025, a tie-breaking system determines their merit ranks. The National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a step-by-step approach based on subject-wise marks, the number of incorrect answers, and, if needed, a random selection process to break the tie.

1. Subject-wise Performance

  • Candidates with higher marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology) are ranked higher.
  • If still tied, candidates with higher marks in Chemistry are given preference.
  • If still tied, candidates with higher marks in Physics are considered.

2. Number of Incorrect Answers

  • Candidates with fewer incorrect answers in the overall exam are ranked higher.
  • If the tie remains, candidates with fewer incorrect answers in Biology are considered.
  • If still tied, preference is given to candidates with fewer incorrect answers in Chemistry.
  • If the tie persists, candidates with fewer incorrect answers in Physics are ranked higher.

3. Random Selection

  • If all the above methods fail to resolve the tie, a random draw of lots is conducted.
  • This process is carried out transparently.
  • An independent expert committee oversees it.

NEET 2025 Result Validity

  • Validity in India: NEET scores are valid only for the academic year in which the exam is conducted. Students must secure admission in that same year.
  • Validity for Abroad: For students applying to foreign medical institutions, NEET scores remain valid for three years, as permitted by the Medical Council of India (MCI), due to longer admission timelines.
  • Saving the Result: Candidates should download and keep a copy of their NEET 2025 result from neet.ntaonline.in for at least 90 days after the result is declared, as it will be needed during counselling and the admission process.
  • Admission Process: Once NEET 2025 results are released, students must participate in counselling to gain admission into medical colleges.
