RRB has released a notice on August 25, 2026, specifying the number of applications received for the RRB Group D recruitment 2026. The notice mentions that a total of 53,97,760 applications were received, with RRB Chandigarh topping in the highest number of applicants. Following the scrutiny of these applications, the RRB released the Application Status 2026, which was subsequently revised after a fresh review of candidates' applications. The revised application status was made available from August 9, 2026, at 9:00 PM, replacing the earlier status update issued on July 8, 2026. Candidates can check whether their applications are marked as Provisionally Accepted, Conditionally Accepted with conditions, or Rejected with reasons by logging in to the official application portal using their credentials. The RRB is also communicating the updated status to candidates through SMS and email on their registered contact details.

  • The recruitment is being conducted for 22,195 Level 1 posts across various departments of Indian Railways.
  • The application process was open from January 31 to March 9, 2026, while the correction or modification facility remained available from March 12 to March 21, 2026.
  • Candidates with accepted applications are eligible to appear for RRB Group D CBT 1, scheduled from August 3 to August 21, 2026.
  • RRB has clarified that acceptance of an application is provisional. A candidate may be cancelled at any stage if discrepancies, deficiencies, falsified records or data, or malpractice are detected.

RRB Group D Application Process 2026: Correction Window

RRB Group D Application correction window will remain open from March 12 to March 21, 2026. Candidates must log in using their registration number and password to make changes to their application forms. Students can edit most of the details except the railway zone, email ID, and mobile number. The modification should be done a maximum of two times only. Other information regarding the modification fee is highlighted below:

  • Students have to pay a non-refundable modification fee of INR 100 for all categories.
  • If students are to change their categories from SC/ ST to General/ OBC, they have to pay INR 250 extra in addition to INR 100.
  • For changing from PwBD/ Ex.SM/Female/Transgender to UR/OBC/Male/Non-Ex.SM, the fee is INR 250 extra (in addition to INR 100).
