Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan New Delhi, established in 1970, was instituted under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to promote and preserve the Sanskrit language and literature. In March 2020, it became known as a central university and was renamed Central Sanskrit University (CSU) (as per the enactment of the Central Sanskrit Universities Act, 2020). Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan New Delhi, is acclaimed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Central Sanskrit University (CSU) has been accredited with an A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 

Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan has its main campus at New Delhi, Janakpuri, providing UG courses for B.A. in Sanskrit, Yogic Science, etc., and PG courses such as M.A. in Sanskrit, M.Ed., etc. The university also offers many doctoral programs covering Ph.D. in Siddhantajyotisha, Sahitya, Vyakarana and diploma and certificate courses in Yoga, Ayurveda Sahitya, Sanskrit Journalism, etc. The university accepts admissions primarily based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG and CUET-PG), administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, for doctoral programs, students must appear for the Vidya Varidhi entrance exam (held by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan New Delhi) with qualifications like NET, JRF, or M.Phil.
