ANM program is a two-year diploma program that provides the students with essential skills in basic nursing, midwifery as well as community healthcare. The course equips the graduates to provide maternal and child health services, immunization, first aid and health education, particularly in the rural and community levels. In Punjab, ANMs form important first-line healthcare personnel.

 

The ANM course of the Punjab province consists of classroom-based theory and hands-on experience in hospitals, community and rural health centers. Most important topics are Community Health Nursing, Health Promotion, Primary Healthcare Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Midwifery, Basic Pharmacology, Nutrition, Infection Control and Emergency Procedures. Punjab ANM Admission Eligibility Criteria

In order to do ANM in Punjab, applicants are to meet the following criterion:

  • The candidates should have cleared the 10+2 examination with any recognized board or council of any stream- Science, Commerce or Arts- can be accepted but the stream of Science with Biological subject is desirable.
  • The applicants are expected to have obtained at least 50 percent marks in their 10+2 examination. In the case of reserved category candidates, 5 point relaxation (i.e. 45%) may be allowed based on the provisions of the government.
  • The applicant must be aged 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission and there is also a requirement of maximum age of 35 years.
  • One of the subjects to be tested and passed in the 10+2 examination must be English to guarantee effectiveness in communication and grasping.
  • The candidates are required to be medically fit to take the post of a nurse and midwife and this fitness is certified by a registered medical practitioner.
  • The ANM course can also be available in Punjab to students who have cleared their 10+2, and have either studied through National or State Open schools or those who have studied Health Care Science or Vocational courses in any of the healthcare sectors.

 

Punjab ANM Admission Entrance Exams

There is no entrance exam of ANM courses in Punjab, mainly the entry is done on the basis of merit at 10+2 examination. Step 1: You can fill the application online on the official web site of the Baba Farid University ANM Admission and with this application form you may need to attach some of the documents like mark sheets, birth certificate, domicile and medical fitness certificate.
