Admission to the Telangana Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) course is held through an online centralized application system operated by the State Health Department or the Telangana Nursing Council. Applicants willing to pursue the ANM diploma are required to submit an online application within the notified admission period by filling in the application form made available on the official admission website. Candidates must upload the documents, including education certificates, identity proof, and caste or category certificates. One must also pay an application fee during the submission process.

The selected candidate list is prepared based on merit and their performance in the previous qualifying examination. The merit list serves as a base for the counselling and seat allotment for government and private ANM training schools in the state. After the release of the merit list, the shortlisted candidates will be informed of document verification. The procedure for seat allotment is based on the merit ranking category, reservation and choice of institution and candidates. After allotting a seat to the students, they must carry out the admission formalities by paying fees and submitting documents in order to register for the course.

The Telangana ANM two-year diploma course provides essential competencies for students to administer community healthcare through nursing and midwifery. The course will give students basic theory and practical classes combined with field training to prepare them for dependence on the auxiliary nurse and midwife postings in primary health care centres and rural health institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are male candidates eligible to apply for the ANM course in Telangana?

Historically, ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery) is a women-oriented course. Telangana, like all other states in India, allows only female applicants to be admitted into courses of ANM since the study material and working domains are specifically for female health workers in maternal and child health. Male applicants are advised to consider the GNM or B.Sc. Nursing courses are available for both genders.

Are rural candidates given preference during ANM admissions?

Yes, rural candidates are usually given preference because ANMs have a significant role to play in providing healthcare in underserved rural areas. A few seats are reserved for those who studied in schools located in rural or tribal, and backwards areas. This is done to ensure that health personnel know everything about rural conditions.

Are there any special training needs under the ANM course in Telangana?

Yes, there are. ANM training is practical and field-oriented. Internships and field training have to be done by students in PHCs (Primary Health Centres), maternity units, and anganwadi centres. It involves actual midwifery practice, immunisation campaigns, and follow-up monitoring of maternal health, so the course is both classroom and field-oriented.

Is hostel accommodation provided to ANM students in Telangana?

Government nursing colleges and some private institutions provide hostel facilities, particularly for students from remote or rural locations. Availability is based on the capacity of the institution, and the charges at government institutions are typically minimal. Availability is scarce, though, and is typically reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do ANM Telangana students have the option of applying for financial aid or scholarships?

Yes, the ANM students eligible for scholarships shall apply under many Telangana state welfare schemes, including the Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) for SC/ST/BC/EBC/Minority students. Some schools of nursing might also grant merit-based or need-based financial assistance to support tuition and living costs.

What would a student do if he or she fails or drops out of the ANM course in the middle?

If a student fails or drops a year of the course, they might be permitted to repeat the year or reappear in exams, depending on the institute's rules and DME regulations. But repeated failure or prolonged absence could result in disqualification or cancellation of admission. It is also to be noted that scholarship benefits could be withdrawn in such scenarios.
