These involve knowledge of design principles such as movement, emphasis, proportion, rhythm, scale, harmony and unity.

The core subjects may cover a wide scope of issues including basic study of fibers, yarns, and other textile materials, to higher level weaving, knitting, felting and braiding. Printing techniques, dyeing techniques and crafts are also taught to students and this comprises indignation into the rich textile and handloom tradition of India. The curriculum is set to offer theoretical as well as practical skills so that students become competent in textile production and design.

Computer applications in textile design are incorporated in many programs and students use digital tools in their works. Portfolio development and internships in the industry are highly promoted, providing the learners real-life experience of manufacturing and consumer needs. This integrated nature prepares graduates with the right skills in garment, fashion, and home furnishing industries.
