The Bachelor of Science (BSC Agri) program or the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSC Agri) program in Tamil Nadu pursued a 4 -year with 8 semesters graduate course. This course trains the students related to modern agricultural practices, soil science, plant breeding, agriculture,and sustainable agriculture and many more. The program combines class - room learning instructions with practical learning through fieldwork, research projects and rural agricultural work experience programs. To be eligible for Bachelor of Science in Agriculture admission in Tamil Nadu, candidates have to complete 10+2 as compulsory subjects with physics, chemistry, and biology or mathematics, usually a minimum of 55% -60% marks under the Board of Higher Secondary Education of the Government of Tamil Nadu, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereby, and the candidate must have passed all subjects in the Academic Stream of the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary Course). Admission is usually conducted through the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) online counseling process, which is based on the marks obtained in the qualification examinations. Usually colleges require no entrance examination, but some colleges consider state or university level exams.

The following are the requirements for enrolling in the B.Sc Agriculture program:

  • Educational background: Applicants interested to pursue BSc Agriculture program should have completed their higher secondary certificate (10+2) or equal from a recognized school. This credential ensures that the student has the fundamental knowledge required to graduate from agricultural studies.
  • Required topic: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics should be the main subject of 10+2 courses. Understanding agricultural science, including plant biology, soil chemistry and agricultural-technical applications, requires a strong understanding of these main science areas.
  • Need for minimum marks: General category students will have to secure at least 55% of the potential marks on the qualifying examination. Other categories such as BC, MBC and DNC may require 45–50% based on the institution and government criteria.
  • Age Limit: In general, candidates should be less than 21 years of admission by 1st July of the year. However, candidates that fall under the SC, ST, or SCA categories are not subject to an upper age limit, which makes the admissions process more inclusive of these groups.
  • Domicile Criteria: Candidates who are Tamil Nadu permanent residents are given preference for admission. Additionally, the state quota ensures that local students are given preference by making those who have completed Tamil Nadu's classes 10, 11, and 12 eligible.

BSc Agri Admission in Tamil Nadu Admission process

Most universities have a similar admissions procedure for the students to pursue B.Sc Agriculture. In order to enroll in this course, candidates might need to take an admission exam conducted by the university or also consider the state level entrance exam. Step 4: Students applying under 35% management quota will also have to complete TNAU registration, but can contact private affiliated colleges directly for admission.
