NMAT Admit Card Rules 2026

Admit card is a mandatory document that candidates need to bring for the NMAT exam. The admit card consists of candidate’s registration details, NMAT exam centre details, photograph and signature. NMAT admit card 2026 is available 7 days before each scheduled exam date. Candidates will have to download and print a fresh copy of admit card before each attempt. No soft copy of admit card is allowed, so candidates must print at least 1-2 copies of their admit card for the exam. However, for at-home, a printout or a picture of the admit card is acceptable. The rules for admit card include:

  • The photograph printed on the admit card should be clearly visible and match the photograph on the ID proof. If the photograph is blurred or not properly visible, candidates must get it updated by emailing nmatsupport@gmac.com.
  • Candidate's name on the admit card must match their name on the ID proof.
  • The admit card must be printed, as no soft copy will be accepted (For at-home, a printout or a picture of the admit card is acceptable).
  • Nothing should be manually written on the admit card. It should be clean.

After candidates are checked in for the NMAT exam, they will be allocated a seat for the exam. Candidates must also keep in mind the following NMAT after check in rules:

  • After the welcome screen, candidates will see a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) screen. Candidates must accept the NDA to proceed with the exam.
  • Candidates will have to click on “Yes I accept” on the NDA screen within 2 minutes to proceed.
  • The exam will end in case candidates do not accept the disclosure within the time limit.
  • In case candidates click on “No I do not accept” by mistake, they will be prompted to change their option once. But if they click on “No I do not accept” again, their exam will end.
  • Once the exam ends, proctors will not be able to reverse the timeout, and candidates will lose their exam attempt.
  • NMAT by GMAC allows candidates to select their preferred section order before the exam. Each section in the exam has separate time limits.
  • In case candidates complete a section before its time limit expires, the extra time will not be added to the next section.
  • The section wise time limit is as follows:

Each section is timed separately, and the NMAT exam pattern explains the question counts and scoring for each one.

NMAT Exam Day Guidelines FAQs

What time should I report to the NMAT exam centre?

Report at least 45 minutes before the scheduled time on your admit card, because ID verification and security checks take time. Slot timings are tentative, so always check your own admit card.

What happens if I reach the NMAT exam centre late?

Arriving or logging in more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start may mean you aren’t allowed to take the exam, and you can lose the full exam fee.

When should I log in for the NMAT online proctored (at home) exam?

Log in to the NMAT portal at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. Check your confirmation email and admit card for any slot-specific instructions.

What documents do I need to carry on the NMAT exam day?

At a test centre, carry a printed admit card and one original, non-expired photo ID with your name and a recent photo. Photocopies, notarised copies and IDs with old photos are not accepted.

Which IDs are accepted for NMAT?

Aadhaar, an Indian passport, a PAN card, a Voter ID, and a driver’s license are accepted. A learner’s license is not.

Do I need to carry a fresh admit card for each NMAT attempt?

Yes. Download and print a new admit card for every attempt, since it carries your slot and centre details. It becomes available 7 days before your scheduled date.

What if the name on my admit card doesn’t match my ID?

You may be refused entry. Check the match in advance, and contact NMAT support if the name or photo on your admit card needs correcting.

Can I carry a calculator, phone or smartwatch into the NMAT exam?

No. Calculators, mobile phones, smartwatches, earphones, notes and food are not allowed. For the at-home exam, you can use two blank A4 sheets and a pencil, which you must show the proctor.

Can I choose the order of sections in NMAT?

Yes, you can choose your section order before starting. Each section has its own time limit: Language Skills 28 minutes, Logical Reasoning 40 minutes and Quantitative Skills 52 minutes. Time left over in one section doesn’t carry over to the next.

What is the NDA screen in NMAT, and what happens if I click “No”?

After check-in you’ll see a Non-Disclosure Agreement screen that you must accept to continue. If you choose “No” by mistake, you get one chance to change it. Choosing “No” again ends the exam, and the attempt is lost.

Is there a dress code for NMAT?

No specific dress code is prescribed. Wear simple, comfortable clothes and avoid heavy accessories, metal buttons or thick-soled shoes that could slow down security checks.

When will I see my NMAT score after the exam?

An unofficial score appears on screen right after you submit. The official scorecard is usually available within 48 hours, but it can take 5-7 working days if your attempt needs an audit.

What if I miss my NMAT slot?

A no-show counts toward your limit of three attempts, and you may forfeit the exam fee. Plan your travel and login early, and use rescheduling if you can’t make the slot.
