NMAT Scaled Scores 2026
NMAT result is released in the form of overall score and scaled score. The total NMAT score ranges from 36 to 360. Scaled scores are the scores reported by GMAC after evaluating a candidate's performance using its scoring methodology. NMAT uses a computer-adaptive format, where questions are selected from a question pool based on a candidate's performance on the questions answered earlier. As a result, candidates with stronger performance receive more difficult questions, while candidates performing at a lower level receive comparatively easier questions.
After the test, GMAC uses a probabilistic model based on modern test theory to estimate the candidate's ability. This ability estimate is then converted into a scaled score between 12 and 120 for each NMAT section. The three sectional scores are combined to produce the total scaled score, which ranges from 36 to 360.
In simple terms, NMAT does not calculate a candidate's score simply by counting the number of correct answers. Candidate’s performance is evaluated through the adaptive scoring model and then converted into a standardised scaled score.

NMAT Percentile Scores 2026
NMAT percentile indicates the percentage of test takers a candidate performed better than. For instance, if a candidate has a 75% percentile ranking, it means he performed better than 75% of other candidates and the remaining 25% candidates performed better than him.
The total NMAT score ranges from 36 to 360. The total score consists of score in Quantitative Skills, Language Skills, and Logical Reasoning sections of the exam. The contribution of each section score to the Total Score is equally weighted across sections.
Note: The score-to-percentile mapping above is based on GMAC's published percentile rankings for the data period November 5, 2025 to January 17, 2026. Percentile rankings may vary depending on the applicable testing population and data period.
NMAT Result 2026 Validity
The NMAT 2026 score is valid for one year. Candidates can use their NMAT score to apply to participating business schools within the applicable testing cycle. However, acceptance of NMAT scores and the validity period for admission may vary by institution, so candidates should check the admission requirements and deadlines of their preferred B-schools.
GMAC also states that NMAT registration and B-school applications are separate processes. Candidates must apply separately to the MBA programmes or B-schools of their choice and check each institution's official website for its NMAT score acceptance policy.

What Details Are Mentioned on the NMAT Scorecard?
The official NMAT scorecard reports the candidate's scaled score for each section and the total scaled score. The three NMAT sections are Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. The current official NMAT information gives the overall scaled score range as 36–360, with each section scored on a 12–120 scale.
How Is the NMAT Score Calculated?
NMAT uses a scaled scoring methodology. Questions are selected from a question pool based on the candidate's performance on previously answered questions. GMAC then uses a probabilistic model to estimate the candidate's ability and converts the result into a common scaled score. This means that the number of correct answers alone does not directly determine the final reported score.
How Is NMAT Result Used for Admission?
Candidates can use their NMAT scores when applying to NMAT-accepting business schools. GMAC maintains information about schools that accept NMAT scores, while individual institutions determine their own admission requirements and selection processes.
Therefore, candidates should check the admission requirements of each target institution separately rather than assuming that a particular NMAT score guarantees admission.
