The UP NEET UG 2026 Round 1 state merit list and tentative MBBS/BDS seat matrix have been released, and candidates can now participate in the ongoing choice filling and locking process. Choice filling started on September 2 at 5:00 PM and will close on September 5 at 5:00 PM. The Round 1 seat allotment result is scheduled for September 7, 2026, followed by admission from September 8 to September 14, 2026. The Round 2 schedule is yet to be notified by DGME Uttar Pradesh.

UP NEET UG Counselling 2026: Latest Update

The UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 extended registration process has closed. DGME Uttar Pradesh reopened registration and document uploading from September 1 at 5:00 PM to September 2 at 2:00 PM. Candidates were required to complete registration fee and security money payment by September 2 at 3:00 PM. The Round 1 choice filling and locking process is currently underway from September 2 at 5:00 PM to September 5 at 5:00 PM. Candidates must submit and lock their preferences within the prescribed deadline. The UPNEET candidate portal warns that choices must be locked after submission, failing which the candidate can be excluded from the seat allotment process.

The Round 1 seat allotment result will be declared on September 7, 2026. Candidates allotted seats will be able to download their allotment letters and complete admission between September 8 and September 14, 2026.

The UP State Merit List of NEET UG 2026 MBBS/BDS First Round has been released. DGME UP has also released the tentative Round 1 seat matrix for MBBS/BDS, allowing candidates to check the available seats before filling their preferences.

UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Eligibility Criteria

UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 eligibility conditions have been prescribed officially by DGME Uttar Pradesh for MBBS and BDS seats under the 85% state quota. Candidates must refer to the official UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 brochure for the final eligibility rules and ensure that they satisfy the following criteria before applying for counselling.

• Qualifying Examination: Candidates must qualify the NEET UG 2026 exam with the minimum required percentile for their category.
• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the Class 12 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as compulsory subjects
• Minimum Marks: 50% aggregate marks for General category, 40% for SC/ST and 45% for PwD, as prescribed by NMC and counselling authorities.
• Minimum Age: The minimum age must be 17 years, as of December 31, 2026.
• Maximum Age: No upper age limit has been mentioned by the NMC.
• Nationality: Indian nationals, OCI, and NRI candidates
• Domicile Requirement: For UP State Quota seats in government medical colleges, candidates are required to fulfill any one of the following conditions:

1. Be a domicile or permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
2. Have a parent or legal guardian who is a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
3. Have passed both Class 10 and Class 12 from UP

UP NEET UG Counselling Process 2026 Step-wise

UP NEET UG Counselling Process 2026 is being conducted by DMET, Uttar Pradesh, online at the official website of upneet.gov.in, for providing admission to the NEET UG 2026 qualifiers in MBBS or BDS programmes offered at UP medical and dental colleges. The stages involved in the UP NEET UG counselling 2026 are registration, fee payment, document verification, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted college.

Stage 1: UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Online Registration Process

Candidates can register for UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 going to the official UP NEET UG counselling portal at upneet.gov.in and register as a new candidate by creating an account. To register, they must click on the “New Registration” link for UG NEET 2026. After this, they should enter the NEET UG 2026 details like Candidate’s Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, Email ID, NEET UG 2026 Roll Number, NEET UG 2026 Application Number. Set a new password to create the login credentials for accessing the counselling dashboard. After this, complete the OTP verification to confirm that the registered mobile number is authentic.

Stage 2: Pay the UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Registration Fee & Security Deposit

Candidates must pay the registration fee of INR 2000 through online mode to participate in the counselling process. The registration fee cannot be refunded. The accepted payment methods are Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, and UPI. Apart from the registration fee, candidates must also pay a security deposit based on the type of college they wish to enroll in: Government or Private. The security deposit is refundable. The security deposit for different institutes is INR 30,000 for Government medical or dental colleges, INR 2,00,000 for private medical colleges, and INR 1,00,000 for private dental colleges.

Stage 4: Choice Filling

Candidates should choose all the colleges they are genuinely interested to enroll in, carefully arrange their college and course choices according to their actual preferences, check the available seat matrix before filling choices, review the order of choices carefully, and lock the choices before the deadline.

Stage 5: UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Seat Allotment

Seat Allotment will be conducted in multiple rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round based on NEET UG merit/rank, State merit, Category, Reservation, Choices filled by the candidate, and Seat availability.

UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 Reservation Policy

UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 seats will be reserved for eligible candidates in two ways: vertical reservation and horizontal reservation, as per the state reservation guidelines of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The highest number of seats is expected to be reserved for the OBC-NCL at 27%, followed by SC at 21% and Women candidates at 20%.

UP NEET UG Cutoff 2026

The NEET UG 2026 cutoffs were released along with the NEET UG 2026 results on July 16, 2026. If a candidate has obtained just the minimum qualifying percentile for their category, they will not be eligible for Government MBBS Colleges in Uttar Pradesh under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and 85% UP State Quota (General). A minimum score ranging from 519 to 523 marks will be required for the General category for government MBBS seats in Uttar Pradesh. Obtaining the NEET UG cutoff scores will make the candidate eligible only for private medical colleges, primarily through Management Quota, Mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

• The cutoff for the General (UR)/ EWS category is 50 percentile. Candidates can enroll in private medical colleges like GS Medical College & Hospital, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohilkhand Medical College & Hospital, Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences, Saraswathi Institute of Medical Sciences, Muzaffarnagar Medical College, Mayo Institute of Medical Sciences, etc., with this score.
• The minimum qualifying cutoff for candidates belonging to the OBC/ SC/ ST categories is 40 percentile. With this score, candidates from reserved categories will become eligible for private medical colleges like Rohilkhand Medical College & Hospital, Naraina Medical College & Research Centre, Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences, Career Institute of Medical Sciences, Naraina Medical College & Research Centre, Krishna Mohan Medical College, Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College, etc., among others.
