What is WBJEE Counselling 2027?

WBJEE Counselling 2027 is the admission process through which all the eligible candidates can apply for the available seats in participating institutions. This counselling is completely based on their merit, eligibility, category and seat availability.

WBJEEB will conduct a centralised counselling for different streams which are engineering, technology, architecture and pharmacy. Students should know that the complete registration and choice filling process will be conducted online.

Students should note that the counselling registration is completely a separate step. Candidates will not be assigned a seat only because they have cleared the WBJEE exam 2027. Any candidate will need to register and also pay the applicable counselling fee. They will need to submit choices of seats and participate in seat allotment to be considered for an available seat.

WBJEE Counselling 2027 Participating Criteria

Candidates can participate through a valid WBJEE rank, while candidates with a valid JEE Main rank may also be considered for seats for which JEE Main is accepted under the applicable WBJEEB and institute rules. WBJEE Counselling 2027 Registration

WBJEE Counselling 2027 Fees

In addition to these, candidates who are allotted a seat must pay a provisional admission fee at the reporting center. The amount depends on the type of institute and the category of the candidate.

Two important things to note here. The counselling registration fee of INR 500 is non-refundable under any circumstances. The seat acceptance fee of INR 5,000 is adjustable against the provisional admission fee if candidates proceed with admission. If candidates withdraw, refund rules apply based on the stage at which candidates withdraw.

What is TFW in WBJEE Counselling 2027?

TFW means Tuition Fee Waiver. This scheme of WBJEE Counselling provides tuition fee relief to eligible candidates subject to the applicable WBJEEB rules.

TFW candidates must satisfy a West Bengal domicile condition and a prescribed family income ceiling, with the income threshold stated as below ₹2.5 lakh per year. Students should also know that the TFW scheme waives the eligible tuition component rather than every fee charged by an institute.

Note: Candidates who are willing to seek TFW seats should select the applicable TFW options separately during choice filling where this portal will provide them separate TFW choices.

How to Complete WBJEE Counselling 2027?

WBJEE counselling runs in a clear sequence. Each step builds on the previous one, and missing a deadline at any stage can result in losing the allotted seat. Here is exactly what happens, in order.

Registration and Fee Payment: Go to wbjeeb.nic.in and click on the counselling registration link. Fill in all personal, academic, and bank account details accurately. When it comes to payment, keep these points in mind:

• Only net banking, credit card, and debit card are accepted.
• No demand draft or offline payment is permitted for registration.
• The INR 500 registration fee is non-refundable once paid.
• WBJEE candidates log in using roll number and password; JEE Main candidates use their JEE Main credentials.

Check the Seat Matrix Before Filling Choices: WBJEEB uploads the seat matrix one to two days before choice filling opens. Reading it carefully before filling choices makes a real difference to the outcome. The seat matrix tells candidates:

• Total seats available in each course at each participating institute
• Category-wise seat breakdown (General, SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD, TFW, EWS)
• Which colleges have seats in the rank range

Choice Filling: Log in and select the preferred combinations of college and course in the order candidates genuinely want them. A few things to do before locking:

• Add as many choices as candidates can; there is no penalty for a longer list

• Report to a designated WBJEE Reporting Center with all original documents for verification
• Note that this is not the same as reporting to the allotted college; Reporting Centers are set up at major cities across West Bengal and handle document verification and provisional admission formalities

Final Admission at the Allotted Institute: After all counselling rounds conclude and the final seat is confirmed, report to the allotted college with original documents and pay the tuition and other fees to complete admission formalities. Classes begin within days of this step.

How to Fill Choices in WBJEE Counselling 2027?

Most pages tell candidates to fill choices in order of preference and lock before the deadline. That is the minimum. Here is what actually makes a difference to the outcome.

• Add as many choices as possible. WBJEE allotment is processed top-down: the system looks at the rank and tries to find the highest-ranked choice that has a seat available for the category. Students who add only 5 or 10 choices often end up with no allotment in Round 1 and have to participate in the Mop-Up Round with a weaker set of available seats.
• Add TFW-category preferences separately if candidates are eligible. TFW is a distinct category with its own seat allocation. If the family income qualifies, explicitly add TFW combinations alongside the regular-category preferences. A TFW seat at a good government college with just INR 3,000 in provisional fees can be far more valuable than a general-category seat at the same institute with full tuition.
• Do not game the order of the list. Fill choices in the honest order of preference. The system is designed for honest preference submission and rank-based processing. There is no advantage to listing a college lower strategically.
• Use previous year opening and closing ranks as a guide. For each college and branch candidates are considering, check the previous year's opening and closing ranks for the category. Adding choices where the rank is far outside the closing rank wastes list slots.
• A practical target to aim for: a list of 30 to 50 well-researched choices gives candidates strong coverage without requiring candidates to add colleges candidates would genuinely not attend.

WBJEE Counselling 2027 Rounds

WBJEE typically conducts three rounds of counselling. Understanding who is eligible for each round helps candidates plan participation correctly.

Round 1 is open to all qualified candidates. This is the main round where most seats are filled. All registered candidates who filled and locked choices participate here.

Round 2 is an upgradation round. Candidates who were allotted and accepted their first choice in Round 1 are not eligible for upgradation in Round 2. It is for:

• Candidates who accepted a Round 1 seat but opted for upgradation
• Candidates who were not allotted any seat in Round 1

• JEE Main candidates must register separately. Qualifying JEE Main does not automatically add candidates to WBJEE counselling. Candidates must register actively using the JEE Main credentials.
• Candidates cannot download the allotment letter before paying the seat acceptance fee. The download link activates only after payment is confirmed.
