WBJEE Exam Pattern 2026 has been released by the WBJEEB at the official website at wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates must go through WBJEE Exam Pattern 2026 before appearing for the exam. The question paper includes a total of 155 questions divided into three sections, i.e., Physics (40 questions), Chemistry (40 questions), and Mathematics (75 questions). The exam will be conducted for a total of 200 marks. Along with the exam pattern, candidates must also know the syllabus for WBJEE 2026 to prepare for the exam. WBJEE 2026 Exam is going to be conducted on May 24, 2026.

WBJEE Exam Pattern 2026: Marking Scheme
As per the marking scheme of WBJEE 2026, candidates are awarded +1 mark for each correct answer in category I. Also, for each incorrect answer, there will be a negative marking of 1/4. For category II and III questions, candidates receive 2 marks for each correct answer. The category-wise marking scheme as per the WBJEE 2026 exam pattern is given below.

The total duration of the examination is 4 hours - 2 hours for Paper 1 (Mathematics) and 2 hours for Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). The candidates will have to answer a total of 155 multiple-choice questions. In the paper, the questions are divided into three categories. Category I and II questions will have only one correct option, while Category III questions will have one or more correct options. For every wrong answer in Categories I and II, 1/4 and 1/2 marks will be deducted, respectively. There is no negative marking for Category III questions.

Multiple-choice questions of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have to be answered by the candidates within 4 hours. No extra time will be provided to the candidates to complete the entrance examination.
Is there negative marking in WBJEE?
Yes, there is negative marking in WBJEE, and the scale of negative marking varies depending on the category of the question. For Category I questions, an incorrect response results in a loss of ¼ mark, and if more than one option is selected, it will be treated as incorrect, leading to a deduction of ¼ mark. For Category II questions, an incorrect response results in a deduction of ½ mark, and selecting more than one option will also lead to a penalty of ½ mark. However, for Category III questions, there is no negative marking, regardless of the response.
