Indira Gandhi National Open University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Confederation of Indian Industry to launch the Career Edge Academy. The motive for the collaboration is to enable the students to choose the job-oriented programs across various fields like IT, Banking & Finance, Healthcare, Cybersecurity, Hospitality, Event Management, and many others. This collaboration also helps to connect the Government Apprenticeship Schemes with the skilled courses that are beneficial for students' employability.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Prof. Uma Kanjilal (IGNOU Vice Chancellor), senior representatives of government, industry, and academia, and the officials of Ministries of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Tourism. The Vice Chancellor of IGNOU has stated during the launching ceremony of the Career Edge Academy that it’s a landmark moment in the development of the nation, and also mentioned that the Career Edge Academy will start a new era of learning and practising skills in the nation's development.

The courses offered through the Career Edge Academy will be available in multiple languages and will be in both online and offline modes for the convenience of students in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University has recently launched a Master’s Programme in Bhagavad Gita, and along with the Master's programme, many courses like Disaster Management, Home Science, and Agriculture have also been launched for the students.
