IIT aspirants with relatively lower JEE Advanced ranks frequently wonder: Is there still a chance for me to get into an IIT? Well, premier engineering institutes like IITs offer various programs to students, and while high-demand programs like Computer Science (CSE) might remain out of sight, there are many other programs that you can consider. Unlike JEE Mains, where students with ranks beyond 1,00,000 often find a seat in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, the cut-offs for JEE Advanced are comparatively high. For instance, less popular programs like BSc in Chemistry often close around a rank of 7,000 in IIT Bombay, while the most sought-after Computer Science course closes around a rank of 68. This is enough to give you a glimpse of the competition in the JEE Advanced examination. Last year, around 48,248 candidates qualified for the JEE Advanced 2025 Exam, while IITs only had 17,385 seats on offer. Hence, candidates need to remain informed about courses and programmes where the cut-offs are low.In total, there are 23 IITs in India, and each one of them is a gateway to undergraduate courses like BTech, BArch, BSc, and more. However, candidates need to qualify JEE Mains exam, followed by the JEE Advanced, to get admission. Post this, seats are allocated to the students via the JoSAA Counselling round. Every year, JoSAA releases the opening and closing ranks after each counselling round, based on which we have prepared a list of IITs and branches with low JEE Advanced Marks and Ranks. Let’s dive deep and understand.
