JoSAA Seat Allotment 2025: Check Complete Schedule, How to Check

Last update: Jun 27, 2025

JoSAA Seat Allotment Round 2 is out at josaa.nic.in. This year, JoSAA is dealing with 62,853 seats across 127 institutes, which is higher than 59,937 seats in 2024, a approximately 4.9% hike in available seats. Out of 833,536 students who appeared for JEE Main 2025, 775,383 have passed and are eligible for counselling. The process involves six rounds, providing multiple opportunities to freeze desired options. So far, two rounds of JoSAA Counselling 2025 have been completed, and the results of Round 2 have been announced on June 25, 2025, at 5 PM. As against five rounds held in 2024, the additional round introduces greater flexibility. These numbers demonstrate the expanding size and competitiveness of seat allocation by JoSAA.

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2025: Seat Acceptance & Reporting

Once your seat shows up on the JoSAA portal, log in at josaa.nic.in with your JEE Main/Advanced application number and password to access your Provisional Allotment Letter. Download and print this slip before moving on.

Next, pay the Seat Acceptance Fee online within the allotted window (15,000 INR for SC/ST/PwD; 30,000 INR for General/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS). You’ll receive an e-receipt—save this as proof of payment. Failure to pay by the deadline automatically cancels your seat.

Immediately after payment, upload scanned copies of all required documents:

  • JEE Main/Advanced scorecard & admit card
  • Class 10 & 12 mark sheets/certificates
  • Category/PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photograph & signature
  • Bank details for any fee refund

JoSAA’s virtual reporting centres will then verify your credentials online between June 14–18 (for Round 1) or the corresponding dates for subsequent rounds. Miss a deadline or leave any document incomplete, and your provisional seat will be forfeited—no exceptions.

JoSAA Seat Allotment 2025: Withdrawal & Upgradation (Float/Slide)

Many students use the float and slide options to keep chances open for a better branch or institute without losing the seat they’ve just earned. Float lets you try for higher-preference choices in later rounds while holding on to your current allotment. Slide gives you a shot at a better program within the same institute without risking your confirmed seat.

  • Float: Stay in the pool for higher-preference seats; if nothing opens up, you keep your present seat. Penalty-free withdrawal window: same as fee-payment window (e.g., June 14–18 for Round 1).
  • Slide: Automatically considered for better programs at your allotted institute; your existing seat is safe. Penalty-free window: identical to the float period each round.

JoSAA Seat Allotment: Expert Tips to Maximise Your Chances

Historically, a large share of students who chose “Float” in Round 1 have moved up to better branches by Round 2, showing it’s a smart move when you’re on the cusp of your dream program.

  • Prioritize with data: Check opening and closing ranks from past years to rank your choices realistically.
  • Use mock-allotment feedback: After each mock list, tweak your preference order based on where you land.
  • Track seat-matrix shifts: Watch how seat availability changes between rounds—campus popularity can free up unexpected openings in later cycles.

By combining the past-rank insight with live allocation response, you will lead your choice to the best possible results.

JoSAA Counselling Process: Overview

The JoSAA counselling experience began when all 775,383 JEE qualifiers online registered and froze their chosen institutes and courses (June 3-June 12, 2025). Then, there were two mock seat allotments (June 9 and 11) to guide you in estimating where you could get allotted. Then, there are six real seat-allotment rounds coming up (Round 2 on June 29 to Round 6 on July 16), all of which are followed by an online window to pay the acceptance fee and report your seat. After paying and uploading documents, JoSAA checks the lot at the specified centres. At last, you have one final opportunity per round to withdraw or go in for upgradation (float/slide) before the next cycle

JoSAA Counselling 2025: How Each Counselling Round Works

Before the first real allotment, JoSAA released two mock lists (June 9 & 11) so you could tweak your choices without risk. From Round 1 onward, each cycle follows the same steps:

  • Round 1 (June 14): Results go live at 5 PM IST; you must immediately pick Freeze/Float/Slide, then pay the acceptance fee by June 18 (5 PM) and report online. Any payment hiccups must be fixed by June 23, with document or portal queries closed by June 24.
  • Round 2 (June 25): Seats announced at 5 PM; choose your action, pay by June 29, and upload documents. Resolve fee‐payment or login issues by June 30, and clear all queries by July 1.
  • Round 3 (July 2): Allotment published at 10 AM; follow the same Freeze/Float/Slide step, complete fee payment between July 2–6, and finish any query resolution in the next 48 hours.
  • Round 4 (July 6): Live at 10 AM; action window opens immediately, fee payment closes by July 10, with a 48-hour helpdesk period thereafter.
  • Round 5 (July 11): Seats released at 10 AM; you’ve until July 15 to pay and report, plus two days to sort out any issues.
  • Round 6 (July 16): Final list at 10 AM; fee payment and reporting wrap up by July 20, and all queries must be closed by July 22.

At each stage, once payment and documents are in order, JoSAA locks in your seat—no further changes are allowed after the round closes.
