NEET Counselling 2025 Round 1 Resignation Notice has been released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on August 21, 2025. The NEET 2025 Round 1 Counselling results were released on August 14, 2025, and candidates who got a seat in this phase are reporting to their allotted colleges, and the ones who didn't get a seat are waiting for Round 2. Meanwhile, MCC has provided candidates who secured a seat in Round 1 with the option to resign or step back from their allotted seat if they wish to do so for any reason. They can physically resign at their allotted college between August 21 and August 25. Also, the security deposit of the resigning candidates will be refunded.

The Round 1 Counselling was not that smooth as it faced certain delays as the choice filling deadline was postponed, and the NEET 2025 Seat Matrix was adjusted, along with the approval of NRI status for some candidates. The process moved ahead only after these issues were settled.

Now, the Round 2 Counselling registration is likely to begin around August 24, 2025, with choice filling to take place on August 26, seat allotment to be carried out on August 27 and 28, and results will be announced on August 29. Candidates selected in round 2 will need to report to the allotted colleges by September 5, 2025.

Also, in total, MCC will conduct three rounds for NEET 2025 Counselling, followed by a stray vacancy round. It is being done for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical colleges across India, as well as 100% of the seats at AMU, BHU, JMI, and ESIC colleges. Also, each state conducts its own counselling for 85% of government college seats and all seats in private medical colleges.
