UGC NET Dress Code 2025: Male and Female Candidate Rules

The NTA hasn’t set any strict dress code for UGC NET 2025, but candidates are advised to follow general guidelines. Security checks will be done at the exam center, and entry may be denied if the dress code isn’t followed. Here is the suggested UGC NET 2025 dress code for male and female candidates:

 

For Male Candidates

  • Male candidates must wear formal attire, such as trousers and light-coloured half-sleeved shirts. Shirts should not have large buttons or heavy embroidery.
  • Avoid shoes with bulky designs or thick soles. Do not wear shoes that cover the ankles, as this may require frisking during entry.
  • Wear breathable clothing, allows free movement and is comfortable.
  • Remove any metallic accessories such as brooches, zippers, or decorative items that may trigger metal detectors.
  • Avoid wearing rings, chains, earrings, bracelets, or any other metallic accessories.
  • Candidates wearing special attire, such as turbans, are advised to arrive at the exam center early.
  • Do not carry backpacks, smartphones, watches, or any similar electronic devices.

 

For Female Candidates

  • Wear formal or semi-formal clothing. Avoid full-sleeved kurtis or shirts with heavy designs or embellishments.
  • High-heeled footwear is not allowed. Only low-heeled sandals or shoes are permitted.
  • Clothing should be loose, comfortable, and allow free movement.
  • Avoid wearing large hair accessories or heavy jewellery that may delay the entry process.
  • Do not carry handbags, backpacks, or smartphones.
  • Religious attire is permitted but must not cover the face.

UGC NET candidates are allowed to carry only certain items inside the exam center. The center is not responsible for the candidate’s personal belongings, and they must take due care of their belongings. Here is what candidates can take with them for the UGC NET 2025 exam:

  • Printed admit card downloaded from the NTA website, with self-declaration form
  • Valid ID proof, any one from Aadhaar card, PAN, passport, voter ID, or driver’s licence.
  • Passport-size photo, the same as used during registration

  • Do not leave the exam hall till the examination is over.
