BITSAT Exam Pattern 2027 is expected to retain the latest structure of 130 questions, 390 marks and 3 hours, with 30 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 40 from Mathematics/Biology, 10 from English Proficiency and 20 from Logical Reasoning. Candidates who complete all 130 questions can also attempt up to 12 additional questions. BITSAT Exam Pattern 2027 has not been officially released yet. Based on the latest BITSAT 2026 pattern, candidates should start preparing & and rely on the latest available exam pattern till date, as minor changes are noticed in Exam Pattern for the past few years.
BITSAT Exam Pattern 2027
The BITSAT paper is divided into five sections. Physics and Chemistry carry 30 questions each, while Mathematics/Biology has the highest number of questions with 40. English Proficiency has 10 questions and Logical Reasoning has 20 questions.
Important: The Mathematics and Biology sections are alternatives. Candidates take Mathematics under the PCM route and Biology under the PCB route, according to the programme and eligibility requirements.
BITSAT Section-Wise Question Distribution 2027
The distribution of questions gives candidates an idea of how much of the paper is devoted to each subject. Mathematics/Biology accounts for 40 questions, making it the largest individual section, followed by Physics and Chemistry with 30 questions each.
Note: The standard paper therefore has 130 questions carrying 390 marks before any additional questions are attempted.
BITSAT Marking Scheme 2027
BITSAT follows a positive marking system with negative marking for incorrect answers. Each correct response carries 3 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect response. No marks are awarded or deducted for an unattempted question.
Note: The standard maximum score is 390 marks. Since incorrect answers carry a penalty, candidates need to balance the number of attempts with accuracy rather than attempting questions randomly.
BITSAT Additional Questions 2027
Candidates who complete all 130 questions within the allotted time can opt to attempt 12 additional questions. These questions are available only after the candidate has attempted the complete standard paper.
The additional questions are distributed across the subject areas as follows:
Important: Once a candidate opts for the additional questions, the previously attempted 130 questions cannot be revisited for modification.
BITSAT 2027 (Mathematics vs Biology)
Candidates do not attempt both Mathematics and Biology in the standard BITSAT paper. The 40-question section is based on the candidate's qualifying route and the programme for which they are eligible.
Note: Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning remain common sections of the examination. PCB candidates should also check the programme-specific eligibility requirements because qualifying through the Biology route does not make every BITS programme available to them.
Is BITSAT Objective or Descriptive?
BITSAT is a computer-based objective examination. Questions are presented as multiple-choice questions, with candidates selecting the appropriate answer from the options displayed on the computer screen.
The paper combines subject-based questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology with English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Candidates receive their allotted three-hour test duration to complete the standard paper.
BITSAT Exam Pattern 2027 (Comparison with JEE Main)
BITSAT and JEE Main both assess subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, but their paper structures are different. BITSAT includes English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning as separate sections, while its Mathematics/Biology section is taken according to the candidate's qualifying route.

Can candidates change answers in BITSAT?
Candidates can revisit questions in the standard 130-question paper during the test. However, after opting for the additional-question facility, the earlier 130 questions cannot be revisited for modification.
