VITEEE Counselling 2026 Phase 5 choice filling window has opened on June 17 at 10:00 AM, will close on June 18 until 5:00 PM. Applicants who secured ranks beyond 1,00,000 are eligible to log in at vit.ac.in and submit their branch and campus preferences before the deadline. Once the choice filling period closes, the Phase 5 seat allotment results are scheduled to be published on June 20. In the previous round, Phase 4 allotment results were already declared on June 10. To access their allotment status, candidates will need to enter their registered application number, password, and email ID on the official portal.

VITEEE Counselling 2026: Campus Eligibility by Rank

Candidates with a rank up to 1,00,000 can apply for admission to all four VIT campuses: VIT Vellore, Chennai, VIT-AP, and VIT Bhopal. However, candidates with a rank above 1 lakh will have limited campus options. The table below explains the campus eligibility for VITEEE 2026 based on the candidates’ rank range.

Note: Candidates with ranks above 1 lakh who fill Vellore or Chennai as preferences will have those choices rejected. Hence, students must fill only the campuses they are eligible for.

VITEEE Counselling 2026: Fee Category System

VIT offers five fee categories (Category 1 to Category 5) for every branch at each campus. The course, teachers, placements, labs, and degree remain the same in all categories. The only difference is the amount of the tuition fee paid every year. Category 1 has the lowest fee, while Category 5 has the highest fee.

During counselling, candidates with better ranks usually get lower fee categories first. If seats in a lower category are full, students may still get the same branch in a higher category, depending on availability.

How Does the Fee Category System Work?

The fee category system is designed to give candidates more seat options for the same branch and campus. A branch may be available in multiple categories, but the quality of education remains the same in every category.

How Should Students Fill Preferences?

Candidates should fill the same branch and campus in different fee categories as separate preferences. This improves the chances of getting the preferred branch even if lower fee category seats are already full.

This way, if Category 1 seats are not available, candidates may still get CSE at VIT Vellore in another category instead of losing the chance completely.

MPCEA vs BPCEA: Which Programs Can I Choose?

While filling out choices in the VITEEE Counselling 2026, students have to make a choice between MPCEA (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, Aptitude) and BPCEA (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, Aptitude). This depends on which paper they appeared for in VITEEE 2026. The details are provided below for students’ reference:

MPCEA (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, Aptitude)- Science-Maths stream: Eligible for ALL B.Tech programmes across all four VIT campuses.

BPCEA (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English, Aptitude) - Science-Biology stream: Eligible only for Bio-related B.Tech programmes:

If students appear with Biology and fill CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering as preferences, those choices will be rejected during allotment. Hence, they must not add ineligible branches.

How to Complete VITEEE Counselling 2026?

Given below is the complete step-by-step process to apply for VITEEE Counselling 2026:

• Pay the Counselling Fee: Candidates need to first pay the VITEEE 2026 counselling fee of INR 5,900 (non-refundable) to take part in counselling. Students can log in to the VIT portal using their application number and password and make the payment through UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card. After successful payment, access to the choice filling will be activated.
• Fill Counselling Preferences: After paying the fee, candidates can start choice filling. Students need to select preferences in this format: Campus + Branch + Fee Category
• Candidates can change or edit their choices multiple times before the last date. It is advised to add at least 25–30 preferences to improve admission chances. Once the choice filling deadline ends (5 PM on the last day), preferences will be locked and cannot be changed for that phase.
• Check Seat Allotment Result: Candidates should log in to the portal on the seat allotment date to check the result. Seat allotment is done based on rank and results are released at once on the portal, not one by one.
• Accept the Seat and Pay the Advance Fee: If a seat is allotted, candidates must accept the seat and pay the advance tuition fee within the given time. Missing the payment deadline can lead to automatic cancellation of the allotted seat, and no extra time is usually provided.
• Upload Class 12 Hall Ticket: After fee payment, candidates need to upload their Class 12 hall ticket on the portal. This step is important to download the Provisional Admission Letter.
• Report to the Campus: After completing all online steps, candidates must visit the allotted VIT campus with original documents for verification. Admission will be confirmed only after successful document verification at the campus.

• VITEEE 2026 Hall Ticket and VITEEE 2026 Rank Card / Result printout
• Class 10 certificate and Class 12 marksheet (or hall ticket if result is awaited)

• Aadhaar Card or valid government-issued photo ID
• Provisional Admission Letter (downloaded after seat acceptance)

VITEEE Counselling 2026: How to Get a Better Seat in the Next Phase

Many candidates think that accepting a seat in one counselling phase means they cannot get a better option later, but this is not true. In VITEEE counselling, students can accept their current seat and still try for a better branch or campus in the next phase.

The safest option is to accept the seat already offered and pay the advance fee on time. If a better seat becomes available in the next phase, VIT will automatically upgrade the allotment. If no better option is available, candidates will still keep their earlier seat. This is how the seat upgrade works:

• Receive and Accept the Current Seat: If candidates get a seat allotment (for example, ECE at VIT Chennai), they should accept it and pay the advance fee before the deadline to confirm admission.
• Take Part in the Next Counselling Phase: Candidates who want a better branch or campus (for example, CSE at VIT Vellore) can still participate in the next phase choice filling and add higher preferences.
• Automatic Seat Upgrade: If a better seat becomes available based on rank, VIT automatically upgrades the allotment, and candidates only need to pay the extra fee difference (if any).
