VITEEE Exam Pattern 2027: Questions, Marks, Duration & Marking Scheme

VITEEE Exam Pattern 2027 is expected to follow the latest official 2026 structure, with 125 MCQs carrying 500 marks. The exam is conducted as a computer-based test for 2 hours 30 minutes. The paper includes Mathematics/Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Aptitude and English, with +4 marks for a correct answer and -1 mark for an incorrect answer.

The official VITEEE 2027 pattern has not been released yet. Therefore, the 2026 pattern is the latest official reference for understanding the expected question distribution, marking scheme and paper structure. VIT introduced negative marking in 2026, while retaining the 125-question format.

VITEEE 2027 Subject-Wise Question Distribution

The VITEEE paper has five sections. Mathematics and Biology are alternative subjects depending on the candidate's stream, while Physics, Chemistry, Aptitude and English are included in both paper combinations.

Important: Mathematics/Biology has the highest number of questions at 40, followed by Physics and Chemistry with 35 questions each. Aptitude and English together account for 15 questions and 60 marks.

VITEEE 2027 MPCEA and BPCEA Paper Pattern

VITEEE uses two subject combinations. Candidates taking the Mathematics stream appear for MPCEA, while candidates taking the Biology stream appear for BPCEA. The only difference between the two combinations is the 40-question Mathematics or Biology section.

Note: MPCEA refers to Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude, while BPCEA replaces Mathematics with Biology. VIT's official 2026 information lists these two question combinations separately.

VITEEE 2027 Marking Scheme

The VITEEE marking scheme changed significantly in 2026. Earlier VITEEE papers did not have negative marking, whereas the 2026 pattern introduced +4 marks for a correct answer and -1 mark for an incorrect answer.

Important: Since an incorrect response results in a one-mark deduction, candidates should consider accuracy while attempting doubtful questions. VIT also states that unanswered or marked-for-review questions receive zero marks.

VITEEE 2027 Question Paper Format

VITEEE is an objective computer-based examination. Every question has multiple answer choices, and the paper is available in English only. Candidates have 150 minutes to complete 125 questions across Mathematics/Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Aptitude and English.

The latest official structure does not assign separate question counts to different difficulty levels. The paper instead combines the five sections into a single examination, making time allocation and accuracy important for the overall score.

Note: Candidates can appear for VITEEE only once in the examination year. VIT's official information also states that the examination is conducted as a CBT and that the question paper is available in English only.

VITEEE 2027 Question Attempt and Review

The introduction of negative marking makes the treatment of attempted and unattempted questions important. A correct response adds four marks, while an incorrect response reduces the score by one mark. An unanswered or marked-for-review question carries zero marks.

Important: Marking a question for review does not result in a penalty by itself. The final score depends on the submitted response, so candidates should check reviewed questions before completing the examination.

VITEEE 2027 Exam Pattern: What Changed in 2026?

The 2026 examination introduced the most important recent change in the VITEEE pattern - negative marking. The number of questions remained 125, but the marks per question changed from the earlier one-mark structure to four marks for a correct response and one-mark negative marking for an incorrect response.

VITEEE 2027 Section-Wise Preparation Focus

The question distribution can be used to prioritise preparation without treating all sections as identical. Mathematics/Biology contributes 40 questions, while Physics and Chemistry contribute 35 questions each. Aptitude and English have fewer questions but together contribute 60 marks.
