In 2026, VIT accepted recognised Central and State Board examinations, Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examinations, GCE Advanced Level, Cambridge/Pearson Edexcel, International Baccalaureate and NIOS qualifications. Candidates completing Class 12 outside India were required to produce an equivalence certificate with the grade or CGPA converted into percentage.

Important: VITEEE 2026 specified that candidates must have studied through regular, full-time and formal education. Candidates who appeared for multiple board examinations in the same academic year were not eligible.

VITEEE 2027 Minimum Marks

For the latest VITEEE admission cycle, the minimum marks depended on the subject combination and candidate category. PCM candidates needed 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined and at least 50% in Mathematics. PCB candidates needed 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology combined and at least 50% in Biology. A separate 50% aggregate criterion applied to SC/ST candidates and candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the specified Northeastern states.

SC/ST candidates 50% in PCM 50% in PCB
J&K/Ladakh candidates 50% in PCM 50% in PCB
Northeastern states 50% in PCM 50% in PCB

Note: The relaxation applies to the aggregate Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology requirement. Candidates claiming the category or regional relaxation must produce the required community or nativity certificate during counselling.

VITEEE 2027 PCM and PCB Eligibility

The Class 12 subject combination determines which B.Tech programmes a candidate can enter through VITEEE. Candidates with PCM or PCMB who take the MPCEA combination in VITEEE are eligible for all B.Tech programmes, subject to the required Class 12 marks. Candidates using the PCB route have a restricted set of programmes linked to biology and health-related disciplines.

For the detailed subject distribution and MPCEA/BPCEA structure, candidates can refer to the VITEEE 2027 Exam Pattern.

Class 12 stream VITEEE subject combination Programme eligibility
PCM / PCMB Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (MPCEA) All B.Tech programmes
PCB / PCMB Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (BPCEA) Selected B.Tech programmes
PCB Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude (MPCEA) Selected B.Tech programmes, subject to VIT rules

For PCB candidates, the 2026 rules listed Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering (Bioinformatics), Health Sciences and Technology, Bioengineering, Computer Science and Engineering (Health Informatics) and Computer Science & Engineering (Education Technology) among the eligible programmes.

Candidates can also check the VITEEE 2027 Syllabus to understand the subjects covered in the entrance examination.

VITEEE 2027 Age Limit

For VITEEE 2026, candidates born on or after July 1, 2004 were eligible. VIT considered the date of birth recorded in the candidate's High School/SSC/Class 10 certificate as the authentic proof of age. The original certificate was required during counselling or admission.

For VITEEE 2027, the corresponding date should be checked against the 2027 admission guidelines before applying.

VITEEE 2027 Nationality Criteria

VITEEE is open to Resident Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indian Nationals, OCI and PIO holders under the applicable admission route. NRI candidates can apply through the separate NRI category, while foreign candidates who studied or are studying abroad follow the international application route.

Candidate typeApplication route
Resident IndianVITEEE
Non-Resident IndianVITEEE/NRI route as applicable
OCI/PIOVITEEE route
Foreign candidateInternational application route

VITEEE 2027 Eligibility for NRI and Foreign Candidates

NRI and foreign applicants follow separate admission procedures from the standard Indian B.Tech admission route. VIT's international admission guidelines require the prescribed Class 12/equivalent qualification with English and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology/Biotechnology, along with the applicable marks and documentation. NRI applicants also need sponsorship and passport/visa-related documents where applicable.

Important: NRI/foreign candidates should follow the category-specific admission instructions rather than assuming that the standard VITEEE eligibility route applies to them.

VITEEE 2027 Eligibility for Class 12 Appearing Candidates

Candidates appearing for their Class 12 or equivalent final examination in the relevant admission year can apply, provided they fulfil the prescribed eligibility requirements. VITEEE 2026 specifically permitted candidates who were appearing for the qualifying examination in 2026.

Candidates should ensure that their final qualifying marks satisfy the required PCM/PCB aggregate and subject-specific minimum before proceeding with VITEEE 2027 Registration.

VITEEE 2027 Eligibility for NIOS and International Boards

NIOS candidates are eligible if they meet VIT's qualifying examination requirements. VIT also accepts specified international qualifications such as GCE Advanced Level, Cambridge/Pearson Edexcel and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Candidates who completed Class 12 outside India must provide an equivalence certificate showing that their qualification is equivalent to Class 12, along with the required grade/CGPA conversion.

VITEEE 2027 Eligibility and Admission Process

Meeting the eligibility criteria only allows a candidate to enter the admission process. For Indian candidates, VITEEE is mandatory for B.Tech admission, and selection is based on the rank obtained in the computer-based examination. Eligible candidates subsequently participate in VITEEE 2027 Counselling, where they can provide campus, programme and fee-category preferences based on their rank and available options.

Candidates can also refer to the VITEEE 2027 Dates page for the expected admission timeline, including registration, exam, result and counselling stages.

VITEEE 2027 Eligibility - Documents Required

Candidates should keep the documents used to establish their eligibility available for verification during counselling and admission.
