About Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology

Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, located in Sotai, Jorhat District, Assam, is a premier and unique institute in the region. Established in 1971 as Science College, it initially offered degree courses in major science subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In 2008, the institute was renamed Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology to expand its academic offerings. In 2007, the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology was introduced with a three-year B.Sc. (IT) programme. Later, in August 2009, two engineering branches, Electronics and Telecommunications (ETC) and Power Electronics and Instrumentation (PE&I), were launched. From the academic session 2016-17, Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology further expanded by adding Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, strengthening its mission to provide quality technical and professional education in Assam.
