The course BTech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is a 4 year undergraduate course and is related to any materials being used such as metals, alloys, ceramics, polymers and advanced materials and also the extraction, processing, characterisation, and industrial uses of materials.

 

BTech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering course syllabus is spread across 8 semesters. The student takes the basic subjects in engineering like Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry during the first semesters. The course explores some key concepts as it advances, and they are Physical Metallurgy, Mechanical Metallurgy, Thermodynamics of Materials, Phase Transformations, Extractive Metallurgy, and Materials Characterization.

 

During the subsequent semesters, students are taken to laboratories, industrial visits, and project work to have exposure in a practical real-life situation and experience skills. Electives or specialization are also available in Nanomaterials, Biomaterials, Corrosion Engineering, Surface Engineering and Electronic Materials are often provided in many institutions.

 

The comprehensive curriculum prepares graduates with the theoretical skills and the practical skills needed to work in steel industries, automotive industries, aerospace industries, the energy industry, electronics industries and the research institutions.

The syllabus as per the examination pattern of BTech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at NIT Warangal follows the same pattern as other branches of engineering, being a combination of theory, experiments, and projects.
