BTech Civil Engineering syllabus

BTech Civil Engineering is a four-year undergraduate degree course that helps students to gain knowledge of the theoretical foundations of civil engineering, construction, and the construction of infrastructure. The course curriculum will often have core courses such as Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Surveying. Apart from theory, the course also places a lot of emphasis on laboratory exposure, workshops, and field study. The students are also introduced to computer-aided design packages and state-of-the-art building technology. The course normally takes eight semesters with internal examination at periodic intervals and semester-end examination for determining the understanding and practical application of principles.

 

The students must pass a series of tests, like semester-end university tests and national practice tests, in order to be qualified to pursue the course. All these institutes also need students to undertake small projects and internships so that the students get exposed to the industry. Some colleges even offer specialisation courses in third year, i.e., Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or Transportation Engineering, so that students can plan their courses according to career goals.
