BTech Nanotechnology is a pioneering undergraduate course (four years) that allows students to be ready to pursue an interdisciplinary and dynamic career in Nanotechnology, at the border of physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. The course explores the processing and utilisation of materials at the nanometer (one billionth of a meter) scale, providing the students with the concepts and tools to design new materials, devices and systems that have defined new properties and capabilities.

After completing their studies, BTech Nanotechnology students have several choices as to their careers in both the government and the corporate world. They may work in electronic industries, pharmaceutical industries, biotechnology, materials science, energy and environmental engineering industries. Typical job titles are Nanotechnology Research Scientist, Process Engineer, Nanomaterials Engineer, Quality Control Analyst, Product Development Engineer and Application Engineer. Also, the graduates can be employed in research and development (R&D) institutions, academic, and government departments that deal with science and technology.

The Government organisations that provide jobs to nanotechnology graduates are the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and Department of Science and Technology (DST). Top recruiters in the private sector are Reliance Industries, Tata Chemicals, Biocon, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and multinational companies working in the field of nanotechnology. The average starting salary of BTech Nanotechnology graduates is INR 4-8 LPA, according to position, company, and location. Experience and a high level of skills enable professionals to earn a higher salary, particularly when they are working in research and product development or even in managerial posts.
