BTech Production Engineering Syllabus: Core and Elective Subjects

BTech in Production Engineering is a four-year undergraduate degree course that combines manufacturing technology, industrial systems, and management principles. The course equips the students with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to design, improve, and optimize the processes of production in various fields.

 

The syllabus consists of core topics like the Process of Manufacturing, Design of Machines, Operations Research, Quality Control, Industrial Automation, and Production Planning. The course also offers exposure to practical learning through workshops, labs, internships, and industrial training, making the students ready to cope with the changing needs of current manufacturing and production processes.

BTech Production Engineering Syllabus Structure

The BTech Production Engineering is a 4-year program divided into 8 semesters. The 8 semesters include various courses which are divided into the following course categories mentioned below:

Course Category

Description

Institute Core (IC)

It also features core courses common to all fields, such as basic sciences, mathematics, engineering fundamentals, and professional communication.

Program Core (PC) and Program Electives (PE)

It comprises discipline-specific compulsory (PC) and elective (PE) courses dedicated to production engineering principles, practices, and skills.

Open Electives (OE)

It includes interdisciplinary courses that students can choose from other departments to broaden their academic exposure.

Institute Electives (IE) (EI + DA + HM)

It includes elective courses categorized as: Entrepreneurship & Innovation (EI), Digital/Automation Technologies (DA), and Humanities & Management (HM).

Activity Credits (AC)

It includes non-credit activities that support all-around development, including sports, cultural, technical, and social engagements.
