CBSE Class 12 Business Studies Syllabus 2027 for Project Work requires students to select one project from the prescribed four project areas for the entire academic year. The project carries 20 marks, and students are expected to present the completed project before the class. The CBSE guidelines emphasize genuine work, research, observation, analysis and presentation rather than dependence on ready-made project material. The four project areas prescribed for Class XII are:

Elements of Business Environment – Topics can include changes in packaging, changes in products and brands, changing social roles, import-export patterns, interest rates, child labour laws, anti-plastic campaigns, industrial regulations, social factors affecting products, technological changes and their effect on employees.
Principles of Management – Students can visit a departmental store, industrial unit, fast-food outlet or another teacher-approved organization and observe the application of Fayol's principles or Taylor's scientific management techniques.
Stock Exchange – The project involves studying stock exchanges, preparing a list of at least 25 listed companies and creating an imaginary portfolio of ₹50,000 equally across five selected companies for 20 working days, followed by analysis of price movements.
Marketing – Students select a product/service and study competitors, licences, USP, branding, labelling, packaging, pricing, distribution, warehousing, promotion and the four Ps of marketing.

For the Marketing project, the CBSE document specifies a 25–30-page handwritten project, presented in a neat folder, with sections such as cover page, contents, acknowledgement and preface, introduction, topic, activities, observations, findings, conclusion, photographs, appendix, teacher's observation and signatures.
