NEET counselling 2025 is going to take place soon.NEET Counselling 2025will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 15% All India Quota seats in government medical & dental colleges and for seats in central and deemed universities. The counselling will take place in four roundsRound 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round & Stray Vacancy Round. Only students who qualify for NEET and meet the eligibility criteria can register for counselling and get admission to medical colleges. Since 2020, NEET has been the only common entrance test accepted by all medical colleges in India, including AIIMS and JIPMER, as per the NMC Act 2019.

 

The NEET UG exam is conducted in 13 languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The NEET 2025 exam had a total of 180 multiple-choice questions worth 720 marks. Physics and Chemistry had 45 questions each, while Biology (Botany and Zoology) had 90 questions. Each correct answer gave four marks, and one mark was deducted for every wrong answer. All questions had four options with only one correct answer.

Changes in NEET 2025 Exam

NEET 2025 has some important changes that all students should know before preparing for the exam. From shorter exam duration and no optional questions to a new registration website and updated tie-breaking rules, these updates will directly affect how students plan their preparation.   • Exam duration is reduced: The NEET 2025 exam will now be 180 minutes (3 hours) long instead of 200 minutes, as it was during COVID.
  • No optional questions: All 180 questions are now compulsory. Students must answer 45 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
  • Section B removed: The exam will follow the old pre-COVID format, which means there will be no separate optional section in the question paper.
  • Total marks remain the same: The exam was conducted out of 720 marks (180 questions × 4 marks each).
  • New official website: The NEET 2025 official website is nowwww.neet.nta.nic.in, replacing last year’s www.neet.ntaonline.in.
  • APAAR ID introduced (optional): Students can use their APAAR ID during registration to automatically fill in academic details, but it is not compulsory.
  • Tie-breaking rules updated: If all other criteria fail, tie-breaking will now be done using a random method guided by an expert committee.
  • Fewer exam cities in India: The number of exam cities in India has been reduced from 557 to 552. Five cities have been removed from the list.

NEET UG 2025 counselling is the process through which qualified candidates are allotted MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH seats across India. Conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), it includes 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and 100% seats of central institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER, and others.
