The Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) provides a wide variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, science, and management. TIET's undergraduate B.Tech programs offer a diverse range of specializations, including Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechatronics, and Chemical Engineering, as well as emerging domains like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, and the Internet of Things. Admission to B.Tech programs is based on JEE Main scores, and candidates must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and meet the institute's minimum aggregate requirements.

In addition to engineering, TIET offers B.Sc. (Hons.) programs in Mathematics and Computing, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Economics, all of which aim to develop fundamental scientific skills and research aptitude. Candidates for B.Sc. programs must have completed 10+2 with relevant subjects (usually Mathematics or Biology, depending on the program), and admission is frequently based on academic merit or institutional entrance exams.

B.Tech Admissions: Through JEE Main score. Candidates must apply via the official TIET admission portal, after which merit lists are prepared based on JEE Main All India Rank. Spot rounds may be conducted for vacant seats.M.Tech Admissions: Based on GATE scores. Non-GATE candidates can also apply and may be considered through institute-level written tests and interviews if seats remain vacant.MBA Admissions: Admission is offered through valid CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/GMAT scores followed by GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) conducted by the institute.MCA Admissions: Through merit prepared from graduation marks or valid NIMCET score, if applicable.Ph.D. Admissions: Based on academic qualifications, followed by a written test and interview conducted by the institute. Candidates with UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE qualification may be exempted from the written test.International Admissions: Direct admission available for NRI/FN/PIO/OCI candidates based on academic merit in the qualifying exam.

TIET Scholarships

TIET offers various scholarships based on merit, financial need, and performance. Support is also available from alumni endowments and outside donors. Merit scholarships are available to top-performing students in B.Tech programs, with tuition fee waivers of 25%, 50%, or 100% based on admission scores and semester GPAs. The Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship provides financial aid of ₹50,000 per year to students from economically weaker sections who have an annual family income of up to ₹8 lakh and maintain good academic standing.

Lateral entry students with strong academic records can receive up to 50% tuition waivers. There are also a number of alumni-sponsored and endowment scholarships available, which are awarded on the basis of merit, financial need, or donor criteria.
