B.Tech Automobile Engineering Syllabus: Subjects, Semester, Books

BTech Automobile Engineering is an undergraduate 4-year course which deals with the design, development, manufacturing and maintenance of automobiles and their parts and combines principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics engineering to innovate automobile technology. The syllabus of Automobile Engineering in BTech is designed in 8 semesters. During the first semester, the student takes basic engineering courses in Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering Mechanics. In later parts of the course, it covers more specialized automobile engineering subjects such as Automotive Engine Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, Automotive Electronics, Chassis and Body Engineering, and Automotive Materials.

 

During the final semesters, the students will do laboratory work, industrial training, and project work to acquire practical and hands-on experience in the field. Electives or specialization areas like Electric Vehicles, Hybrid Technology, Vehicle Safety Engineering, and Automotive Design are also offered in many institutions. Besides the syllabus or core curriculum, BTech Automobile Engineering courses also focus on emerging technologies and industry-oriented skills, so that students are well geared towards the changing automotive industry. Software-based industry-oriented learning is being incorporated in many universities where students are being imparted with the knowledge of various simulation tools such as MATLAB, SolidWorks, ANSYS, and CATIA used in vehicle modelling and design.
