Calcutta University (CU) offers UG, PG, Doctoral, Diploma, and Certificate courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, Law, etc. Admissions at Calcutta University are done in two categories, i.e., Part -˜A' for CU Candidates and Part -˜B' for Non-CU candidates.

The university offers admission to 80% of seats for CU candidates (Part -˜A') and 20% for non-CU candidates. Calcutta University conducts an entrance test for admission to 20% of seats in PG courses for non-CU candidates (Part -˜B'). The final selection of all Part -˜A' and Part -˜B' candidates is done through a counselling process conducted by the university.

Seats are allotted based on scores obtained in the entrance examination or marks secured in the qualifying examination and interview (for respective programs). For the selection, 70% weightage will be given to entrance or qualifying exam scores and 30% to the interview conducted by the respective departments.

LLM Passed Bachelor of Law with a minimum of 50% marks Calcutta University Law Entrance Test (CULET PG) + Counselling
B.Ed Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks Merit-based (for Part A) or Entrance Test (for Part B) followed by counselling
MA Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks
M.Sc Bachelor's degree in Science (B.Sc) with a minimum of 50% marks
M.Com B.Com with a minimum of 50% marks
