JEE Main Exam Centres 2026 FAQs

Where will the list of JEE Main 2026 exam centres be available?

The complete list of JEE Main 2026 exam centres will be published on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can visit this site to check which cities and centres are available for the exam. The list is expected to include many cities across India and some abroad, helping candidates choose or find their allotted examination centre easily.

Can candidates choose their exam centre for JEE Main 2026?

Usually, during the JEE Main registration, candidates are given an option to select preferred exam centres from a list. The final allotment depends on availability and is done by NTA. It is advised that candidates give multiple choices while filling out the application to improve their chances of getting a convenient centre. However, the confirmation of the given exam centre will be visible only on their admit card.

How many exam centres will be there in India for JEE Main 2026?

Based on previous years, the JEE Main is conducted in around 280 to 290 cities across India. The exact number for 2026 will be announced in the official exam centres list by NTA. This wide coverage ensures candidates from different states can find an exam centre close to their location, reducing travel difficulties and making it easier for everyone to participate.

Will JEE Main 2026 exam centres be available outside India?

Yes, JEE Main exams often take place in selected cities abroad for Indian students living overseas. Usually, around 15 foreign cities host the exam. This helps candidates from other countries appear for the exam without travelling to India. The list of international exam centres will be available on the official website, and candidates can check whether their city is included while filling the application form.

When will candidates know their allotted JEE Main 2026 exam centre?

The exact exam centre allotted to each candidate is mentioned on their JEE Main admit card. This is issued a few weeks before the exam date. Candidates can download their admit card from the official website. It is important to check the centre details carefully and plan their travel according to the address given there.

What should candidates do if there is a mistake in the allotted exam centre on the admit card?

If candidates find any wrong information, especially regarding the exam centre, on their admit card, they should immediately contact the National Testing Agency through the helpline or official email. It is important to resolve such issues well before the exam date to avoid last-minute problems. NTA may provide correction windows or guidance to fix such mistakes.

Can candidates change their JEE Main 2026 exam centre after allotment?

Usually, after the exam centre has been allotted and the admit card issued, changes are not allowed. Candidates are strongly advised to fill in accurate and preferred city choices during the application to avoid inconvenience. If any emergency arises, they should contact NTA immediately, but changes are typically not guaranteed.

How can candidates find the exact location of their JEE Main 2026 exam centre?

The exact address and location details of the exam centre will be clearly mentioned on the JEE Main admit card. Candidates can use online maps or GPS tools to find the place and plan their route before exam day. It is recommended to visit the centre in advance if possible to avoid confusion on exam day.

Will there be any help desks or contact numbers for exam centre queries?

Yes, the National Testing Agency provides help desks and official contact numbers on their website for candidates facing any issues related to exam centres or admit cards. Candidates should use only official contacts to get accurate information and avoid misinformation from other sources.

Are exam centres for both sessions of JEE Main 2026 the same?

Candidates may be allotted the same or different exam centres in the two sessions of JEE Main 2026. This depends on availability and other factors determined by NTA. The admit card for each session will clearly mention the exam centre allotted for that session, and candidates should check both admit cards carefully.

What facilities will be available at JEE Main 2026 exam centres?

The exam centres will have basic facilities like seating arrangements, computers for online testing, restroom access, and security checks. Candidates are advised to carry the necessary documents and arrive early. The centres follow strict rules to maintain fairness and a smooth testing environment.

Can candidates request special arrangements at their exam centre?

Candidates with disabilities or special requirements should inform the NTA during the application process or as per official instructions. NTA usually provides the necessary arrangements or support at exam centres for such candidates. It is important to follow official guidelines and submit valid documents for these requests.

How early should candidates arrive at the JEE Main exam centre?

Candidates should arrive at least one hour before the reporting time mentioned on their admit card. This allows time for verification, seating, and instructions. Late arrival may lead to denial of entry, so punctuality is very important for smooth conduct.

Are exam centres accessible by public transport?

Most JEE Main exam centres are located in cities and towns accessible through public transport like buses, trains, or metros. Candidates should check their centre's location in advance and plan their travel accordingly, keeping in mind traffic or delays on exam day.

Where can candidates find updates about JEE Main 2026 exam centres?

All official updates about exam centres, exam dates, and guidelines are published on the NTA’s official JEE Main website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates should regularly check this site for any announcements or changes. This ensures they receive the most accurate and timely information.
