How to Apply for VITEEE Counselling 2026?

VITEEE 2026 Counselling includes the counselling fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment, advance and balance fee payment. Given below is the step-wise process to apply for VITEEE Counselling 2026:

Step 1: Pay the INR 5,900 Counselling Fee

This is mandatory. Without payment, students cannot fill preferences or receive seat allotment. The INR 5,900 is non-refundable but is adjusted against their tuition fee if they take admission. Candidates can pay this at ugresults.vit.ac.in/viteee2026, using UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card, or Debit Card.

If payment is deducted but confirmation isn't received, students must wait up to 2 hours before retrying. Do not press back or refresh during payment. If it fails to resolve, call the VIT helpline: 044-46277555 (Mon–Sat, 9 AM–5 PM).

Step 2: Understand the Fee Category System (Read Before Filling Choices)

This is the most misunderstood part of VITEEE counselling. Each branch at each campus is offered in five fee categories:

• Category 1: Lowest tuition fee, and is allocated to the highest-ranked candidates first
• Category 2: Slightly higher fee
• Category 3, 4, 5: Progressively higher fees, and are available to candidates who couldn't get lower categories

This means that if students want CSE at VIT Vellore at any cost, they should add CSE Vellore Category 1, Category 2, Category 3, Category 4, and Category 5 as separate preferences (in that order of priority). They will be allocated the lowest available category given their rank.

If they only add Category 1, and that category is full by the time their rank is processed, they will get nothing, even though Category 2 or 3 may still have seats.

Strategic implication for Phase 2 (ranks 20,001–45,000): Core CSE at Vellore in Category 1 or 2 is typically gone by Phase 2. Realistic targets for this rank range:

• CSE specialisation branches (AI, Data Science, IoT, Cybersecurity) at Vellore/Chennai in Category 2–4
• Core CSE at Chennai in Category 2–3
• Core ECE, EEE at Vellore Category 1–2
• Core CSE at VIT-AP or Bhopal in Category 1

Step 3: Fill Out Preferences

Choices can be modified any number of times before the deadline. Once the window closes, choices are locked.

How many choices can I fill? There is no upper limit. However, it is recommended to choose a minimum of 25–30 preferences across campuses, branches, and categories to maximise allotment chances. Students must not focus only on one campus or one branch; if CSE Vellore doesn't work out, ECE Chennai or CSE VIT-AP should be considered.

Step 4: Seat Allotment

The seat allotment is purely rank-based; it is not first-come, first-served. Whether students submit choices on Day 1 or Day 2 of the window, their rank determines allotment. An earlier submission does not improve their chances. After allotment, students must check their results on the counselling portal.

Step 5: Accept the Seat and Pay the Advance Tuition Fee

Once allotted a seat, students must pay an advance tuition fee within 2–5 days to confirm it. Missing this deadline = automatic seat cancellation. Partial payment also leads to cancellation.

Step 6: Participate in the Next Phase for Upgrade (If Desired)

If students are not satisfied with the seat they have been allotted, they can choose an upgrade and participate in the next counselling stage. Here’s what students can do:

1. Accept the current seat and pay the advance fee.
2. Participate in the next phase's choice filling.
3. If a better preference is available, the seat upgrades automatically, and they pay only the fee differential.

Note: Students must accept and pay for their current seat before the upgrade attempt.

VITEEE Result and Rank Card 2026

VITEEE Result 2026 was declared on May 8, 2026, at viteee.vit.ac.in. VIT notified candidates of their rank via SMS to registered mobile numbers at the time of declaration. VITEEE 2026 Result contains the following information:

• Candidate name, gender, date of birth
• Application number and roll number
• Marks scored and VITEEE rank
• Qualifying status for counselling

Normalisation: Since VITEEE ran across 6 days and multiple shifts, different candidates received different question sets. VIT uses the Equi-percentile Equating method to normalise scores; their rank is based on a normalised score, not raw marks. This ensures no candidate is advantaged or disadvantaged by their exam slot.

Tie-breaking: If two candidates score identically, the one with fewer wrong answers ranks higher. If still tied, the older candidate gets the higher rank.

Re-evaluation: Not available. VIT does not offer rechecking, re-totalling, or re-evaluation under any circumstances.

VITEEE Scholarship 2026

VIT offers several scholarship opportunities and a fully merit-based admission process for B.Tech aspirants. VITEEE 2026 registration opened on October 24, 2025, and the last date to apply was extended till April 12, 2026.
