IPU CET Latest news and articles
IPU CET 2026 counselling is currently in progress. Round 1 seat allotment was released on June 12, 2026, and Round 2 (Phase 2) seat allotment followed on June 26, 2026. Document verification and admission fee payment for Phase 2 allottees are due by July 1–2, 2026. Candidates must keep checking the official portal, ipu.admissions.nic.in, for round-wise updates, since counselling will continue over the coming weeks.
IPU CET 2026 was conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) from April 25 to May 23, 2026. Importantly, B.Tech (General Engineering, Code 131) admissions no longer go through IPU CET — GGSIPU now fills these seats entirely through JEE Main and CUET (UG) scores. IPU CET 2026 remains applicable only for B.Tech Biotechnology (Code 130) and B.Tech Lateral Entry programmes (Diploma holders - Code 128, and BSc graduates - Code 129, where still notified), along with several other UG/PG courses such as BBA, BCA, BJMC, and MBA (via CAT/MAT/CMAT).

The Round 1 cutoff for IPU CET 2026 was released on June 12, 2026, alongside the first seat allotment result. The Round 2 cutoff (for BEd, BA/JMC, BCom, and BA programmes) is expected once the July 1–2 fee payment and verification window closes. IPU CET 2026 FAQs
What is the IPU CET exam for?
IPU CET is GGSIPU's entrance exam, now primarily used for admission to B.Tech Biotechnology and B.Tech Lateral Entry programmes, along with select UG/PG courses like BBA, BCA, and MBA. Regular B.Tech admissions are now handled through JEE Main and CUET, not IPU CET.
Has IPU CET 2026 counselling started?
Yes. Counselling began in early-to-mid June 2026 and is ongoing. Round 1 seat allotment was released on June 12, 2026, and Round 2 followed on June 26–30, 2026. Further rounds are expected through July 2026.
When is the last date to pay the Round 2 admission fee and complete document verification?
For candidates allotted seats in Phase 2, the fee payment deadline is July 1, 2026, and document verification at the GGSIPU campus is scheduled for July 2, 2026.
Is B.Tech (regular engineering) still admitted through IPU CET?
No. From the 2026 session, B.Tech (Code 131) admissions are based entirely on JEE Main and CUET (UG) scores. IPU CET now applies mainly to B.Tech Biotechnology (Code 130) and Lateral Entry programmes.
What rank is considered good for IPU CET 2026 counselling?
A category-wise rank under roughly 1000 is generally considered strong, but the "good" rank depends heavily on the specific course and college — competitive programmes like USMS BBA typically need a much higher score.
Can I still register for IPU CET 2026 counselling if I missed Round 1?
Yes, in most cases. Candidates who missed Round 1 registration or fee payment can typically still participate from Round 2 onward, subject to seat availability and official notification on the portal.
Is there a spot round for IPU CET 2026?
Yes. GGSIPU typically conducts an offline Spot round after the main online rounds to fill any seats that remain vacant. Dates for this round are expected to be announced after the Round 2/3 process concludes.
What documents are required for IPU CET 2026 document verification?
Candidates need original and self-attested photocopies of Class 10/12 marksheets, the IPU CET scorecard/rank card, admit card, category certificate (if applicable), Aadhaar card, and passport-size photographs. Incomplete or incorrectly formatted category certificates are a common reason for seat cancellation, so candidates should double-check formatting against GGSIPU's prescribed template.
Is there negative marking in IPU CET 2026?
Yes. Each wrong answer results in a deduction of 1 mark, while correct answers earn 4 marks. Unattempted questions are not penalized.
What happens if I forget my IPU CET application number?
Candidates can use the "Forgot Application Number" option on the portal and retrieve it via their registered email or mobile number (OTP-based). The official helpline can also assist if issues persist.
