JEE Main 2027: Registration (Open), Exam Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Pattern

The National Testing Agency (NTA) opened JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration on October 24, 2026, through the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can apply without a late fee until November 22, 2026 (11:50 PM), and a late window with an extra INR 500 will be open until November 26, 2026. Session 1 will be held on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027, and the admit card will be released on January 13, 2027. The revised schedule published on October 24, 2026 replaced the January 22 to 30 dates listed in NTA’s September 16, 2026 examination calendar.

• Registration window: October 24 to November 22, 2026 without a late fee, and November 23 to 26, 2026 with an INR 500 late fee.
• Session 1 exam: January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027, with two shifts a day, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM IST.
• Session 2 exam: April 2 to 7, 2027, with Session 2 registration opening on January 5, 2027 and closing on February 3, 2027.
• Result timing: Session 1 results are scheduled for February 2027, and Session 2 results for April 2027.

JEE Main 2027 Highlights

What Is JEE Main?

JEE Main, abbreviated for Joint Entrance Examination (Main), is the national engineering entrance exam for undergraduate admission in India. NTA conducts this exam in a computer based mode. Students should note that no single IIT conducts JEE Main. Paper 1 will be held for B.E./B.Tech. Paper 2A will be held for B.Arch and Paper 2B for B.Planning.

NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and several state funded universities accept JEE Main scores. Students should check the full list of colleges accepting JEE Main 2027 scores to plan their admissions earlier. In JEE Main 2026, 15,38,468 unique candidates appeared across both sessions, and more than 16 lakh are projected to appear for JEE Main 2027. As per JEE Advanced 2026 official notification, top 2,50,000 successful candidates of the B.E./B.Tech paper become eligible for JEE Advanced 2027.

JEE Main 2027 Vs JEE Main 2026

NTA has made four visible changes in the JEE Main registration cycle. For JEE Main 2027 registration cycle , MeriPehchaan sign-on for registration has become mandatory. Students do not need to upload their identity-card any longer. Students will also get a INR 500 late fee window to fill their registration form. A very important notification is that Session 1 exam dates have been revised. Paper 1 pattern of 75 questions for 300 marks stays the same.

JEE Main Exam Dates 2027

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will be held on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027, and Session 2 on April 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, 2027. Each exam day will have two shifts, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM IST. NTA will allot the centre, date and shift. Following table lists every confirmed JEE Main exam date 2027 for both sessions, from registration to the exam. The JEE Main Session 2 registration 2027 opens on January 5, 2027. Candidates who applied for Session 1 can pay the Session 2 fee with the same application number.

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 Dates (Old vs Revised)

NTA first listed Session 1 on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30, 2027 in its Examination Calendar on September 16, 2026. The Information Bulletin of October 24, 2026 revised the schedule to January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027. Both schedules have six exam days, but the revision adds January 20 and 21, drops January 29 and 30, and ends the series on January 28.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2027

JEE Main 2027 eligibility has no minimum Class 12 percentage and no age limit set by NTA. Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027, can apply. Students who have passed Class 12 in 2024 or earlier cannot apply for JEE Main 2027.

Note: Students must note that the “75% rule” applies only at the admission stage and not at the time of appearing in the exam. For B.Arch, 45% aggregate is needed at admission, and for B.Planning, 50% in Mathematics and 50% overall. JEE Main Registration 2027

JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration started on October 24, 2026. JEE Main registration will close on November 22, 2026 at 11:50 PM. The JEE Main registration last date 2027 with late fee is November 26, 2026. JEE Main registration will be done online only at jeemain.nta.nic.in, and no document is sent to NTA by post.

How to Fill the JEE Main Registration Form 2027

Students will have to follow step-by-step JEE Main application process which have eight stages:

1. Open jeemain.nta.nic.in and proceed to registration through MeriPehchaan.
2. Authenticate through eKYC using Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License or APAAR to generate the application number.
3. Log in with the application number and password.
4. Enter personal details, choose up to four exam cities and select the paper(s).
5. Capture the live photograph by webcam or by scanning the QR code on a mobile.
6. Upload the passport photograph, signature and Class 10 certificate.
7. Pay the fee by credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI.
8. Download and save the confirmation page.

Important Instructions for DigiLocker and MeriPehchaan Verification

NTA advised candidates to:

• Students should log in using their own DigiLocker, JanParichay or e-Pramaan credentials through MeriPehchaan.

• Completing Re-KYC through DigiLocker before filling out the application is a necessary step.

• Students should ensure their name and date of birth match their Class 10 certificate or marksheet.

Documents and Photo Specifications for JEE Main 2027

JEE Mains photo size 2027 is required to be between 10–200 KB in JPG/JPEG, and the signature will have to be between 10–100 KB. NTA no longer asks for a scanned identity card, since identity is verified through MeriPehchaan. The table lists each upload and its specification, and the photograph and signature guidelines page explains how to resize files.

JEE Main Application Form Correction 2027

Session 1 correction window will run from November 27 to 29, 2026 (up to 11:50 PM), and the Session 2 window from February 8 to 10, 2027. NTA offers a one time opportunity, and corrections are allowed only in certain fields, as listed under JEE Main application form correction. Corrections sent by post, fax, WhatsApp or email will not be entertained. NTA has now issued a fresh clarification (on 30 October 2026) which allow candidates to submit a fresh application even if they have already generated an application number or paid the examination fee.

Students need to consider the following important points related to JEE Main Application Correction Form:

• Only the last application with successfully paid fees and a generated confirmation page will be considered valid.

• Fees paid against an earlier form will not be refunded or adjusted.

• Candidates who only need to correct details should use the correction window.

• Holding multiple application numbers alone is not treated as unfair means.

• Appearing in the examination using more than one application number is treated as unfair means.

JEE Main Registration Fees 2027

JEE Main registration fees will depend on category, gender, number of papers and centre location. For one paper at an Indian centre, General male candidates pay INR 1,000. Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL male candidates will pay INR 900. Female candidates of General/EWS/OBC-NCL will have to pay INR 800. SC/ST/PwD/PwBD and third-gender candidates will have to pay INR 500.

NOTE: Late fee is INR 500 over the category fee, so a General male candidate applying for one paper between November 23 and 26 pays ₹1,500. Payment will be accepted by credit card, debit card, net banking and UPI. The category-wise breakup is on the JEE Main registration fees 2027 page.

JEE Main Exam Centres 2027 

Candidates choose up to four exam cities in order of preference, limited to the state of present or permanent address. If fewer than four cities exist in that state, cities from other states can be offered, subject to availability. The 310 test cities (301 in India and 9 abroad) are listed in the JEE Main exam centres 2027 guide. Overseas centres are Manama, Kuwait City, Kathmandu, Muscat, Doha, Riyadh, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, and candidates with a present or permanent address outside India must choose at least one Indian city. NTA will allot cities in the order of preference but can change a city for administrative reasons. It can also merge cities with very few candidates or move regional-language candidates to another city, and its allotment decision is final. The exam city is announced through the exam city intimation slip on December 30, 2026 for Session 1 and March 12, 2027 for Session 2. The exact centre address, date and shift appear on the admit card, which will be available from January 13, 2027 for Session 1 and March 25, 2027 for Session 2.

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2027

JEE Main 2027 Paper 1 has 75 questions for 300 marks, to be solved in 3 hours. Each subject has 20 multiple-choice questions in Section A and 5 numerical value questions in Section B. Every correct answer earns 4 marks and every incorrect answer costs 1 mark, with no marks for unattempted questions. Numerical answers are entered as integers rounded to the nearest integer. Note: If a numerical question is dropped, all candidates of that shift receive 4 marks. Eligible PwD/PwBD candidates receive 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour. The paper-wise details are available in the JEE Main exam pattern 2027 guide.

JEE Main Paper 2A and Paper 2B Pattern

Paper 2A carries 77 questions for 400 marks and Paper 2B carries 100 questions for 400 marks. Both papers will have a Mathematics part and a 50 question Aptitude Test. This will be followed by a Drawing Test in Paper 2A and a Planning Test in Paper 2B.

Note: Candidates who are appearing in both Paper 2A and 2B get 3 hours 30 minutes. The Drawing Test has no negative marking, and watercolours are not allowed. Candidates will have to bring their own geometry box, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons.

JEE Main Syllabus 2027

The JEE Main exam syllabus includes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for Paper 1, while Paper 2A and Paper 2B have separate subject-wise syllabi. NTA now lists the JEE Main syllabus 2027 as the latest official syllabus available.

JEE Main 2027 Paper 1 Syllabus

JEE Main Syllabus 2027 for B.Arch Paper 2A 

JEE Main 2027 Paper 2A syllabus is for B.Arch aspirants. This syllabus is divided into three parts: Mathematics, General Aptitude and Drawing. Mathematics will follow the same units as the Paper 1 syllabus. In this way, candidates can prepare for Class 11 and 12 maths beforehand. Students are also advised to prepare for Aptitude tests 3D perception, visualisation and analytical reasoning. Along with this, preparing for the Drawing tests sketching from memory on paper rather than on a computer will be very helpful. JEE Main Syllabus 2027 for B.Planning Paper 2B

JEE Main Paper 2B syllabus is for B.Planning aspirants and covers Mathematics, General Aptitude and Planning Mathematics. This will be similiar to the Class 11 and 12 syllabus as Paper 1, while Aptitude tests visualisation, reasoning and 3D perception will also be asked. The Planning section differs most from Paper 1: it covers urbanisation, cities, development issues, government programmes, map reading and chart interpretation. Therefore, candidates are advised to read current affairs as this will really help them in the examination.

JEE Main Preparation 2027

A structured JEE Main preparation plan will need a concept study, practice and mock testing in parallel, as laid out in the JEE Main preparation plan. Candidates will need to choose between taking assistance of coaching centers or self study whichever suits them the best. JEE Main Admit Card 2027

JEE Main admit card for Session 1 will be available from January 13, 2027, and for Session 2 from March 25, 2027. Candidates download it from jeemain.nta.nic.in with the application number and password, and no admit card is sent by post. Students should check all of the details that are present in JEE Main admit card 2027 to cross verify after downloading admit card. Candidates will have to carry the following document to the exam centre:

• A clear A4 printout of the admit card with the self-declaration undertaking.
• Two passport-size photographs, the same as uploaded in the form.
• An original valid photo ID.
• The PwD/PwBD/UDID certificate, if claiming relaxation or compensatory time.
• For Paper 2A, a geometry box, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons.

How to Download JEE Main Admit Card 2027?

Candidates can follow the steps below to download the JEE Main admit card:

1. Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in.
2. Click on the link for the JEE Main 2027 admit card.
3. Enter the required login credentials, such as the application number and date of birth/password.
4. Submit the details to access the admit card.
5. Download the admit card and check all the information carefully.
6. Take a printout and keep it safely for the examination day.

Candidates should ensure that the photograph, personal details, examination date, shift and centre information are correct. Any discrepancy should be reported to NTA through the official contact channels.

JEE Main Result 2027

JEE Main Result will be released online by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The result will contain the candidate's NTA score/percentile, subject wise performance and other relevant details. Candidates can also check marks vs percentile JEE Mains 2026 to estimate the percentile a particular score may bring. The exact date for the release of the JEE Mains Result 2027 has not been announced yet.

JEE Main 2027 is expected to be conducted in two sessions. Candidates appearing for both sessions will receive their results separately, while the final NTA score will be prepared as per the applicable NTA rules.

How to Check JEE Main Result 2027?

Candidates will be able to check their JEE Main Result 2027 online by following the steps given below:

1. Visit the official JEE Main website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
2. Click on the JEE Main 2027 Result or score card link.
3. Enter the required login credentials, such as the application number and date of birth/password.
4. Submit the details to access the result.
5. Check the NTA score, percentile and other details displayed on the screen.
6. Download the JEE Mains Result 2027 and keep a copy for future admission and counselling purposes.

JEE Main 2027 Tie Breaking Rule

JEE Main tie breaking rule is applied after candidates have obtained equal Total NTA Scores. Candidates should therefore focus not only on their overall score but also on maintaining accuracy across Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. As per the latest available NTA rules, the JEE Main tie breaking rule for Paper 1 is applied in the following order:

1. Candidate with a higher NTA score in Mathematics is given preference.
2. If the tie continues, the candidate with a higher NTA score in Physics is preferred.
3. If the tie still remains, the candidate with a higher NTA score in Chemistry is preferred.
4. The candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers to correct answers across all subjects is preferred.
5. The next comparison is made for Physics.
6. The final subject-wise comparison is made for Chemistry.
7. If the tie remains even after applying all these criteria, the candidates are assigned the same rank.

JEE Main Cutoff 2027 Expected

JEE Main cutoff for 2027 will be released by NTA after the declaration of the JEE Main result. The cutoff is released in the form of a percentile and varies according to the candidate's category. Candidates should note that the qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff are different. The qualifying JEE Main cutoff is associated with eligibility for the next stage, including JEE Advanced, whereas the admission cutoff refers to the rank or score required for admission to a particular institute, course or branch.

Since the official JEE Main 2027 cutoff has not yet been announced, candidates can refer to JEE Mains 2026 trends to understand the expected range. In 2026, the qualifying cutoff for the General category was 93.4123549 percentile, while the corresponding cutoffs were 82.4164528 for EWS, 80.9232583 for OBC, 63.9172792 for SC and 52.0174712 for ST.. Candidates can also compare the cutoff of JEE Mains 2024 with the 2026 trend to see how the qualifying percentile has shifted over the years.
